    Hi everybody,

I have read all of the threads related to the 355 top issues. My convertible is giving me the beep but not engaging the motor, etc.. The driver seat is not moving forward but the passenger seat does move forward... hence, I suspect that my driver seat pot is not working or I have some railing debris or something.

Simple question... can I simply disconnect the seat pots and still put the top up/down using the switch in the console (i.e., not use the override switch behind and between the seats)?

    Thoughts????

    Thanks.

My experience only. You don't need to use the switch on the center console. Set parking brake. Fold both seat backs forward(Required). Pull the top back until it beeps. Close with the emergency switch(located at pump housing). The seats will not change position. No need to alter seat position if the seat backs are folded forward for adequate clearance. Faster and easier than the Ferrari SOP to open or close. Good Luck.

If nothing is broken, try this:

There are a couple of things you need to to to get this to work.

    To lower thr top....

    1. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes FIRST. The ECU needs to recognize several things:
    2. Make sure windows are DOWN
    3. Engage handbrake
    4. Make sure both seats are as far back as possible ( this is part of the cycle)
    5. Open top and push top backwards until you hear the beep
    6. Push the center botton on your console backwards to initiate the cycle.
If nothing is broken , then the cycle will start pushing your seats all the way up and let the cycle do its thing .

Let me know if this works

This will not work. If you don't use the bypass switches, the ECU will check for the seat pots. I guess you could rewire the bypass switches into the console switch. Hmmm....
