Does anyone know more about this 348? Like what are the brake upgrades? What is the paint code for the challenge wheels in this color? What issue of FORZA is this? I LOVE THIS CAR!

Hi! That is my car, and it is a very special example. It was featured in Forza #77. Thanks for the compliments.

    Here's what it has:

    Serie Specialle front spoiler
    Serie Specialle tail lights
Serie Specialle carbon fiber sport seats
Factory 348/355 Challenge Wheels... they are just painted silver
    Factory Challenge pedals
    Factory Challenge badging
    F40LM/F50 Brembo Brakes
    Carbon Fiber door sills
    Tubi/test pipes
    Tuned ECU's
    5 point harnesses
    Short ratio gearbox
    painted roof/sills

There is more, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. The car has ~340hp and is ~200 pounds lighter than stock. It is definitely has a CS type personality.

I have had her for almost 20 years, and it might be time to find her a good home. For the right person, the car is an unbelievable performance Ferrari.

    Dino,

Were the brakes (F40LM/F50) a simple bolt on upgrade or was there a need for custom brackets, master cylinder changes, proportioning valve adjustments, ABS issues, etc.?

I know your company offers custom chips for the 348, but I don't understand how they can be precisely tuned to a given car without dyno testing the car and checking the fuel to air ratios that are actually taking place. Could you explain a little? I have a set of TPS chips from the previous owner, but sure would like to get my car tuned to it's potential given it's individual characteristics.
    Thanks, Jerry

You know, there's a lot to be said for a car-driver relationship that lasts 30 years................ before you sell her to me. ;)

    :D

    Fantastic 348.

It has been so long since they have been on the car, I have honestly forgot! If I remember correctly, it was very much a no brainer.

The way we set up the ECU's is, for most cars, or cars with mild modifications, we do some general maps. If a guy wants every last inch out of the car, we do a custom job. We have the client do a dyno, w/AF ratios, and send the dyno, along with a list of mods and the ECU's and we write software for that particular set up and car. For most guys who want more power, a broader power band and better throttle response, our standard work is more than adequate.

seats, wheels, brakes, exhaust...... and no fat chicks! :)

Andrew.... Thanks. The 348 is an absolutely brilliant driver's car, that was a challenge to drive well when I first got her, but was easily made less challenging with some small changes. There have been many Ferrari's over the years that have graced my garage, including an F40, but the 348 stayed (OK, the F40 leaving was an error). I would't want to sell the 348 now, except that I am having some health challenges that are making 'dancing on the pedals' a bit frustrating, necessitating an F1 or an E-gear gearbox. I still do lots of track days and thoroughly enjoy humbling supposedly better cars (and drivers), but I am forced to do it in my SMG M3. I want to get back to it in either a 360CS or a Gallardo SL.

My 348 is set up to attack roads.... not Starbucks! :) But it is what it is.

That's interesting... are the standard maps essentially set up to take advantage of the average changes when a high-flow exhaust is fitted, or the average changes when a high-flow exhaust is combnied with an improved air intake, etc?

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your health challenges. :(

I'm sure you'll be able to find your 348 a good home though. :)

I think I'm right in saying it's the driving experience that matters most in an exotic car, so I reckon you've done the right thing. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Dino, your car looks fantastic!! I am sorry to hear of you health issues and I wish you all the best! A 360CS will fill the hole the 348 leaves nicely ;)

What do you mean? How could you sell her? How much? Any pictures here on Fchat?

I love the short gearbox, had one, but burned it up. Bad thing about it, had a Ferrari Dealer look at it, and 200 miles later it was gone. Awesome car, love the direct stering, open pipes, will be in Hilton Head Island SC for the Hilton Head Island Concours this weekend putting on 500 miles or so www.hhiconcours.com.

Our standard maps will adapt to improved intakes and exhaust.

Thanks for your thoughts on my health. It is much appreciated.

It is all about the driving experience.... the look of the car, the sound, the way it stops and go's! As fast as my SL55 is, it just lacks the experience.
