    Its not hate.
If we didn't want a US team to succeed we wouldn't care.
They just make it so hard to believe.

Forget the numbers for a moment, just think about all the tasks you just described and what it takes to get all these people trained and equiped properly so they function as a team. It is daunting; particularly if you have just 4 months left and hired 20 folks so far.

    So:

Does anybody know what the penalty is these days for not showing up at the first race? Could they say for instance, sorry, we won't make it to the fly-away race, but we'll be there for the first European race?

IIRC Bernie imposed heavy financial penalties in the past, but I'm not sure whether that's still true with a grid of 26 cars because his contracts with the race organizers might still be for a grid of 20 cars.

So maybe the real deadline isn't the middle of March, but much later in April.

You think six weeks will make any difference?

    It could to some degree.

For the life of me I don't see how they want to do all the tasks required in 4 months. And that's with proper funding levels right now (which I doubt they have secured).

If it took them 4 months to grow from 2 to 20 people, how do they want to grow from 20 to 200 in the next 4 months (I'm not buying the argument that they can run on a third of the other team's people, that's just naive).

If they are to be believed an entirely new paradigm is envisioned. Given the long odds of success (or even survival) in F1 it will be quite an achievement.

I think you hit the nail on the head in a previous post. Windsor/Andersen were in the right place at the right time - Mosley needed teams with even just a shred of credibility, in his fight against FOTA, so USF1 got a slot they would never have otherwise gotten. But the game changed, and now they are in a bind. I bet that previously, they relied on the payouts from Bernie to make their business case. But now that the cost side went way up, there is no way they are gonna make it. But it has the slight chance to make them a lot of $$$, so they will stick with it.

I think there is a much greater chance that they sell their slot to Sauber somehow, or they just get squeezed out in favor of Sauber.

That's the scenario that makes the most sense.
Even now out of office Max's actions continue to screw people.

    Yes, 47ish total.

People are also saying they need to train people? Yes there may be some training but a large majority of the people are coming in from either ex-F1 teams or other racing series and pretty much know what they are doing.

Edit: just saw the other thread about their factory... whats it like?

The ones coming from other (as in US) racing series won't know what they're supposed to do without proper training and those coming from ex F1 teams will need work visa (see Brian S. comments on that). Both approaches take time.

I could offer mine with a view of DP's house and swimming pool (that's the ocean front property) or better yet, the lucky sucker could be her neighbor - do you think that might be a strong sell point?? What incentives for your bridge??

The SpeedTV piece was an embarassment to USF1, frankly.

I noticed the CNC machines in their shop STILL did not have tools installed.

And the 5-axis machine that was cutting a wad of aluminum... was that an F1 part? It didn't look like it... and the shots were all close-ups, was that even in the USF1 shop? It looked like it could have been shot in Haas local office in Charlotte instead of the USF1 facility.

    Utter, utter crap.

My guess is you had to throw in your F40 as part of the deal, when in reality THAT is going to be the actual 'F1' cars they try to use..
