Quick, someone get the smelling salts for Tillman......UNT defeats Western Kentucy 68-47...Wow, neither team brought their defense with them, only the offensive squads....

Congrats Tillman. Maybe that broke the monkeys back right off of UNT. Must have been an exciting game to watch.....

And SMU beats Tulsa today also......Good show.

TCU, SMU and UNT all win on the same day. First time since 2002 that they have accomplished that feat.......

Congrats to the Oregon Ducks! for the 47-20 rout of USC...however, I'm sure there will still be calls in the sports pubs to ignore the 2 losses and still demand USC share in a #1 ranking.

If I could go on scholarship and play football ANYWHERE, it would be USC or UCLA for me, depending on my choice of areas of study.

Living in SC on someone else's dime, and being on TV every week (USC), and being foremost in front of NFL scouts are what it's all about.

Danny Sheridan's early line of LSU/Bama is 9 1/2. That sounds like too many to me; maybe 7 at most. I see the score as 21-14...Tide rolls on back to #2.

Because they fell one spot on a bye week?
Nothing's changed for Bama since last week.
One game at a time...and LSU is next. :)

Yes, they're on TV every week, but not national...not even half the time from what I recall. They're mainly ABC (regional), which is why the east coast doesn't see SC play much at all.

If you want to be on national tv (not regional), then you come to the SEC and play for whatever team is #1 that time. This season happens to be UF, which will be on CBS 6 of 13 games (excluding bowl game). ESPN/ESPN2 for 4 other games...ZERO ABC regional.

USC should not even be in the top 20 with 2 losses.......Let anyone else do that and see how they would rate..........

I was looking at the Heisman candidates........the QB Of Notre Dame????Nah, I don't think so. He has been doing well but not Heisman quality.

I was looking over the stats of Andy Dalton, the TCU QB. They are really pretty good but he would never even be considered. Strength of schedule I would suppose........

    8 games played before yesterday
    156.19 efficiency
completed 106 of 166 passes with 3 interceptions
    63.9% completion rate
    1464 passing yards
    11 touchdowns passing
    Longest of 75 yards
    209.1 yards passing per game

    Opponents:
    102.58 efficiency
completed 103 of 209 passes with 7 interceptions
    47.8 completion rate
    1209 passing yards
    8 touchdowns passing
    long of 62
    151.125 yards passing per game

Passed for 178 yards yesterday and three more touchdowns
TCU rushed for 384 yards yesterday.
    Added two more interceptions.
Held UNLV to 160 yards total offense with 60 yards being done on two runs of 40 and 20 yards each.

    TCU rushing
    8 games
    324 rushes, 1964 yards
    103 yards in losses
    Net yardage rushing 1861
    4.6 yard average
    21 rushing touchdowns
    long of 34
    232.62 yards per game rushing

    Opponents
    224 rushes, 924 yards
    247 yards in losses
    Net yardage rushing 677
    2.7 yard average
    3 rushing touchdowns
    long of 36
    84.625 yards per game rushing

TCU offense per game: 427.3 yards per game
Opponents offense: 246.6 yards per game
Scoring: TCU 282/35.25 points per game Opponents 89/11.125 points per game.

Punt returns TCU 22 for 352 yards, 16 yard average, 2 touchdowns, long of 71
Opponent 10 for 57 yards, 5.7 yard average, no touchdowns, long of 34 (Wow, I just noticed this. Take out the long of 34 yards by the opponent and they have a total of 23 yards in punt returns on 9 punts for a 2.55 yard average)

Interceptions: TCU, 5 for 55 yards, 11 yard average, long of 23
Opponents: 3 for 6 yards, 2 yard average, long of 6

Kick returns: TCU 16 for 463 yards, 28.9 yard average, 0 TD, long of 53
Opponents: 43 for 856 yards, 19.9 yard average, 0 TD, long of 40

Over the course of the season so far they have been very balanced in their passing, rushing ratio. Almost split straight down the middle.

Sorry for the novel but when I begin looking at stats I can become very involved. Now if any of your have your teams stats and want to share them I guess I opened up for that..

Did I mention I like TCU? I guess because they are usually the underdog. The total student population is around 9,000 so they do not have the huge student body and programs to draw from like the megacolleges have. There are currently 13 players active in the NFL who graduated from TCU. One of the most notable being LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers. Yeah, I know, there a lot of players from Ohio State, USC, UCLA, Penn State and a host of other large programs currently active. But TCU is so small it seems kind of neat that it would produce that many good players.

And Coach Gary Patterson, since the start of the 2005 season the Frogs are 21-1 in day games and 42-4 when playing on a Saturday. Pretty solid I would think........

    Agreed.

No qualms about any of the top 10, and PSU will be in it if they sort out Ohio State this weekend.

I know we will not see it this year but I actually believe Texas Tech could take USC. Just that Tech is so unpredictable. Rip some teams apart and then lose to Texas A&M. Go figure.

btw, did any of you see the interview with Mike Leach, the coach of Tech after the loss to A&M? He unloaded on the team pretty hard and said it was because the players were believing their "fat" girlfriends telling him how good they have become. Four of five times during the interview he mentioned the "fat girlfriends". I bet he was not very popular on campus the next day.......http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=Mike+Leach+fat+girl+friends&hl=en&client=firefox-a&emb=0&aq=f#

    Watch it and laugh.

    FRANK!!!

    FFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you have plans on Saturday other than watching football, because the Tide's gonna DROWN THOSE BAYOU TIGERS!!!

In the truest sense, this is a national championship quarterfinal!

Less will try some different things, some trickery, some Mad Hat-tery, but in the end, LSU is going to lose, and still call Saban the Anti-Christ, even though he made LSU relevant.

King cakes or beneigts? I'll spot you some Carolina BBQ on the long shot that Alabama plays dead and lets LSU win.

    ROLL TIDE!!!!

The mighty North Texas Mean Green continued their dominating style, piling up 6 points on the way to their non-victory over the Northeast Louisiana Indians.

Oh wait, I'm stuck in the 90s. Now it's the Warhawks (boooooring) and Louisiana Monroe.

LSU was better coached as far as offensive play calling and defense went today than what I generally expect from Les Miles. LSU has always had the talent on the field, but they are usually held back by their coaches off of the field who tend to make ignorant decisions.

Not today. LSU played very well, and could have made a game of it if they hadn't gotten a bad call on the interception late in the 4th. In fairness, the refs missed a holding and a block in the back call in the first half, both of which benefitted LSU...and the pendulum will often swing the other way by the end of a long game in the way of penalties.

Alabama dropped some passes early on, but by coming out passing they saved their running backs for the 2nd half, and once Ingram got going that opened it up for Julio Jones and Trent Richardson. McElroy got the monkey off of his back, too. Tiffin was straight and true, knocking through enough field goals in this game to become Alabama's all-time scorer...a pretty big deal.

Marquis Maze (#4) really carried Alabama until Ingram took over.

Alabama's defense only had two lapses. Teams simply aren't going to put up many points against Bama.

Other notes: Alabama's special teams have improved, and Alabama is clearly rested. At the end of the game, Ingram gave an on-field interview and he wasn't even winded. Alabama would have *waxed* LSU in a longer game (e.g. overtime).

In short: a good game by both teams, but Alabama is simply better.

And Alabama is very, very ready for Florida in the SEC championship game. Hopefully we'll see the 2nd string get some substantial playing time against Auburn.

I guess they had a little difficulty "sorting out" my Buckeyes...LMAO!!! :p :p

At least all of the PSU fans can burn the shirts that had a picture of Pryor with his head in his hands and "Failure" written underneath it...it will keep them warm in po-dunk PA for the long, cold winter.

    Go Buckeyes.
