Jim, I just finished reading the whole thread, this effort putting the dreams of many of us on wheels. Great stuff! Is it just me, or are the curves of the car made for the house-style of the worlds' most popular cool drink? Red & white as a combo are now also strongly associated with the Ferrari house-style, so it would work well together. I also assume that the news as we receive it is lagging quite a bit: It is no small feat to put a car together fit for a 24 hour endurance race, but to do so in such a limited timeframe is miraculous. Before starting in such an event, you want to test and fine-tune your car, eating into building time backwards from May. That doesn't leave you much building time, so I have to assume that your starting point less the body is a complete existing one? Lastly, by now you have done the math and know what you need to spend. It'll be a serious figure, and if I were a potential sponsor, I'd be thinking about my eggs being in the proverbial one basket. A 1 car team is a high risk operation. The cost of building and operating a second car would IMO be a relatively small investment but a significant step in re-assuring a sponsor that he'll get the exposure he bargains for. My fingers are firmly crossed, Jack.
The market research we've done shows that the dollar equivalent exposure of P 4/5 is really quite substantial. We think the dollar equivalent exposure of P 4/5 Competizione would be substantial as well. We're speaking to several potential sponsors and there is real interest. As you've said the amount of money involved is serious. The wheel's still in spin. I remain hopeful but realistic. As my Wife is fond of saying: "We shall see.."
It's been over a week since the last post in this thread. Anything new to report on, Jim? I check on this three or four times a day! =)
Things are starting to come together. It will take time but there is excitement and real interest. Thanks to my Partners in this adventure! This will be some trip and it has begun. P 4/5 took on a life of her own. May P 4/5 Competizione follow her example.
This is news iv e been waiting to hear!! I assume we;ll have to wait on further sponsorship details until everything is in ink..
We still have to finalise a lot but enough has come together to make me believe this can happen. These are tough times and things can derail but we're ready to step off... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Excellent picture. I will look forward to watching the progression of this project just as I did when you were starting the P 4/5. Best of luck with the proejct and subsequent racing!
Jim, Amazing project and what a great thread thank you again for posting your projects and sharing with us all. I do have one question after reading this whole thread. With all the press you have given Ferrari have you approached them or they you to lend a hand with this upcoming project? Technical, financial, parts support?? Thanks Mike
P 4/5 Competizione is not an official Ferrari project however if we finish 1OA at The 24 Hours of Nurburgring I'm sure we'll get a Congratulatory Phone call.
Jim, I find it crazy that all the buzz you create for Ferrari and they have not offered somekind of assistance??? Why they could not lend a hand with design, marketing, parts, minor sponsership, something I don't understand??? Best of Luck on your project and thanks again for sharing
Good news - and good luck Jim, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Scuderia Glickenhaus. All the best, Andrew.
@Napolis, Is there a possibility that you could maybe post a cool sketch or rendering to give us something to drool over until more details emerge?
