Anyone seen this concept beauty? It's the F250, created by Idries Omar. The F250 has been designed as a lightweight, entry level Ferrari. Reviving the long dead Ferrari Dino model, however the name is derived from the Ferrari 250 GTO. Proposed power for the concept comes from a mid-mounted 2.5 litre V6 engine running on bio-fuel. The Ferrari F250 concept exists only as a computer model, and currently there are no plans to put the model in production. 3.5 V6? WEAK. 3.5 V8 please. otherwise this project reeks of failure. I think the front of the car looks brilliant, rear end could do with some work though.
There already is an entry level Ferrari - it's called the F430 and soon to be the 458. And I guess the California kinda took that spot, not sure, haven't seen prices lately. I would hate to see Ferrari be dragged down to producing cheaper cars. IMO aston martin hurt its image with the vantage offering a car that was in reach of moderately incomed individuals. Certain cars such as Ferrari and Lamborghini, IMO, have a certain image. That image is of grossly "overpriced" and expensive automobiles. This image doesn't need to be tainted by some $120k entry level Ferrari, which serves great for all the $50k-millionaire name droppers who want to scoop one. Just saying
I like it... however... who spends all that time rendering that and puts those bull**** orange reflectors/turnsignals?
HAven't it been posted before? I Have definitely seen those images before. Didn't like it back then and don't like it now.
That's nasty. I like the look. Stuff a twin-turbo setup onto a V-6 platform and slap the Dino name on it. A little lightweight with 300-400 bhp on tap would be pretty cool. A flex-fuel or straight ethanol option would be worth considering as one day the time will come when the exotics will be targeted by the environ(mental)ists for elimination. For a leader like Ferrari to look ahead would be a smart move and help to neuter the inevitable backlash against exotics. Cheers-Colin Firth-Ontario Canada
Having some experience with this I can say while you can draw anything turning a drawing into a usable, buildable, producible car is another matter especially one that meets world wide safety standards.
But curbs here in Calif. are 5" high so all that bottom stuff would be knocked off. So can you readjust drawing for real world ground clearance. I know a lot of prototypes wouldn't be street legal in this regard but by having it street legal you can evaluate it more realistically against present Ferraris.
That's Terrible. That rear looks like a Chrysler crossfire. Why anyone would want to copy that design begs belief!
I think that in the future the terms exotics and supercars will be far different than what we now know, thus my reference to the V6. 10-15 years from now can you honestly see a manufacturer being allowed to sell a car that delivers less than 10 mpg on fossil fuels when such a focus is already turning to zero emissions and increasing fuel mileage requirements? It is just a matter of time before the politicians under pressure from the Al Gore's of the world, either outlaw the fuel guzzlers or tax them into oblivion. Sad but true and don't get me wrong, I was raised on big-block Chevy's and two-stroke motorbikes and am having a hard time even wrapping my head around the draw of (one of my customer's new) Tesla Roadster. The future is going to a lot different and even Ferrari will have to change or become a fossil. Colin Firth-Ontario Canada
It's quite cool, but there are just too many creases and angles. It doesn't look like a Ferrari (but then again, Ferrari's don't look like Ferrari's nowadays). Needs twin rear lights as well.
the front view is nice... 288 esque. The rear is an abomination. Ultimately, it's just another student's work.
