355Ch in Targa....Have photo's on my home computer, will post when I get back... Spotted a DB2/4 Arial Atom 328 on the road and the F50 360Ngt 355ch etc all in one day, I live in the wrong country!!
Spotted Lambo gayardo and Nissan GTR both in black, Melbourne CBD. Too slow with the camera both times....
No no no.....a Kiwi spotted them!! "Kiwi spotters thread" (this is Melbourne, good chance they were kiwi's driving them )
Was out at Hampton Downs yesterday watching some lambo/aston/bently owners trying to tame their cars with instructors in the passenger seats (jonny reid was one of them). I oringally heard on Good Morning that there would be free rides for the public, which turned out not to be true.. although it was awesome to check out the new track with some awesome machinery. The LP640 was seriously evil. (was tempting with the door wide open and keys sitting on the dash...) http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/8361/sspx0328u.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/3889/sspx0329.jpg Love the LP560-4 exhausts. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/266/sspx0323.jpg The V12 Vantage was a bit underwhelming, although it was sporting some awesome wheels (with serious brakes!) http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/6364/sspx0298.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/3812/sspx0297.jpg http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6199/sspx0327c.jpg Group Shots http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6669/sspx0311.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4725/sspx0325.jpg http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9882/sspx0326.jpg overall i counted 8 gallardos (1 lp560-4), 2 mucielagos (1 lp640), 1 anarge t, 1 conti gt, 1 e46 m3, 1 v12 vantage, 1 evo X, 2 db9s and 2-3 v8 vnatages
Thanks for sharing the photo's. I have a day coming up there this month, really looking forward to it.
Sadly not The surroundings of the track is still a big construction site. The track itself looks amazing with great corners and lots of changes in altitude (cant think of right word atm... still hungover). i expect great viewing from the main grandstand.
Thanks anyway...I was also wondering if there is a town close by?? I may be in a motorhome and will be looking for victuals close by....thats if they let officials camp at the track over the course of the weekend ;-)
I have no idea really - heres a link to the track on google maps for a general idea on the area. http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hampton+downs&sll=-41.244772,172.617188&sspn=2.337718,4.938354&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Hampton+Rd,+4381&ll=-37.274736,175.046196&spn=0.019329,0.038581&t=h&z=15 off the top of my head i would recommend pukekohe (home to pukekohe raceway, oold supercar track). very nice town with all the things youll need
Great...never thought of staying at Puke for the Hampton round...been there a few times and you are right...everthing there...I notice MereMere is just north of Hampton and there is another town to the south. There is also a massive goal-like facility to the south-west...do they expect driving penalties to be that harsh????!!! LOL Only a hop step and a jump to Paeroa as well...L&P here I come (maybe with some Bourban..)
There's no camping ground at Pukekohe, although the I-Site Information Centre near the Pukekohe library might know of suitable places to park camper vans. There is also an I-Site Information centre between the BP and McDonalds on State Highway One at the top of the Bombays on the left heading North. I used to live in Pukekohe and there are a few restaurants and bars. I wouldn't recommend staying in the town south of MereMere - if you're thinking of Huntly. Lots of violent, druggie, criminal types live in Huntly and if there's a camping ground or park it wouldn't be at all safe. I only stop my car there to fill up with petrol, and that's only if it's right on empty! Waiuku and Clarks Beach have caravan parks by the water. Waiuku has bars, a supermarket and the dealership for Lotus. There is also a rural camping ground somewhere near Drury, plus another one at the Miranda Thermal Hot Pools at the base of the Coromandel.
My friend drove his MRS around Hampton Downs today with a camera mounted. No Ferraris there today as far as I know, but it gives a good idea of what it's like to drive on. http://www.youtube.com/user/idnz#p/a/u/0/yO4z7p57Vcg Hampton Downs do rent out apartments by the night that are trackside.
Thanks for the link, I'm there next Monday, really looking forward to it!! There are a couple of vids from a Porsche driver training day, one with Jonny Reid and one with Emma Gilmore. Should be an interesting track to drive. Do you know how much the apartments are for the night?
Have a look at http://www.hamptondownsmotorlodge.com/ and click on Book Online Just as well I only live 40-45 minutes up the road from there as I heard a rumour that on Saturday people are looking at setting the fastest track time for the track, so might have a look.
