Hi everyone, I'm having my 308GTBi totally redone in original Nero, but the interior won't look as sweet, so it's all new seats, door panels, carpets, consol, in fact, everything Bordeaux will be new from Gahh, so I have the oportunity to choose any color. I'd like to hear different opinions of what you all like, and maybe see pics of different colors with black exterior. I'll be looking forward to what everyone has to say. I'm thinking of keeping Bordeaux, maybe a brighter red, some sort or rich tan, black, or??? Please, let's see some other color interiors. Thanks, Dino

Dino - I'm in exactly the same spot with my nero 308GTS QV. I had the front end repainted, everything back to the leading edges of the doors which eliminated the stone chips, etc. Now my car is at a well known shop here and will get a full interior replacement including leather replacing the cloth on the "parcel shelf" behind the seats and the underside of the targa top. Problem is, I'm finding it really hard to judge what the new interior will look like when I'm holding some 3" square leather samples in my hand. The current plan is to go with "saddle" which is a darkish tan. A problem with the 308, as I see it, is that there's a lot going on in the interior with the black dash and armrests, the brownish carpet and the leather itself. All very busy looking in a small space. I've been thinking of getting carpeting that's more of a match with the leather for a more unified look but again, its hard to visualize. My work is all being done "from scratch" with hides rather than pre made kits. So, I hope all of you out there will post pictures and/or post any threads that would help!

Anything but black - unless you want the interior to becom a cavern. My 308GTB is silver with a navy blue interior and black carpet. As I get back to finishing my restoration, I too may 'brighten up' the interior. Light gray? Lighter blue (uh, no)? Some share of red? Perhaps even tan?

In previous photos you have posted of your car, I caught glimpses of the bordeaux interior with the off-white headliner/decking vinyl, and I always thought it was a very nice touch to the car -- an exquisite color combo. Made me want to do the same to my black-on-black GTBi.

I'd post an interior shot of black on black . . . but oddly enough I don't have one!

    Can't really see much here:

If I had your car, I'd keep the same color. :)

My opinion would be to keep the bordeaux leather. I think that is a fantastic combination with the black. But, I would vote for black carpeting. I'm not a fan of the full red or tan interior. (seats, carpeting, etc...) I always like the contrast of red or tan seats, door panels and console with black carpets. Here are a couple pics of my interior as an example.

Pics on both cars are excellent!
The black piping does add a nice balance as well.
Good luck with the resto, Dino. I envy one who can afford to do it with full replacement...very expensive. I may do with my 328 at a later time, when I really want to 'rip her apart' if you know what I mean.

Anyway, here is my effort, if you want to see some pics:

Sorry Nice Guy to change the post theme but I see in your pics that your heater temperature levers are inverted. I think that blue must be in front and red at the rear, doesn't it?
Of course, your car interior looks awesome! ;-))

Heh - yeah... I had popped off the inner plates from the bezels (I had a company create facsimile labels to "rejuvenate" the plates... and I tossed the plates (with new labels) back in and got them backwards :)

Is your car an 85 QV by chance??

I like my cream color....so dont use it!!! I like the rarity of it.

Very similar to mine. I originally had an OEM black interior, and changed the seats and upper door panels to new tan hides with black piping, intentionally keeping the OEM black console and carpet.

I really like the resulting tan / black contrast.

    Cheers - DM

I vote for staying with the original bordeaux red. I like the contrast to the back exterior and the original red color is dark enough to not be garish. If you really do want to change to something that is not trying to be original at all then try a light to mid grey or a mushroom grey.

When I was looking for my 308QV, i wanted black w/ tan interior, but the car I ended up buying is black w/ black interior w/ red piping. It did'nt look that good in pictures, by I really liked it when I saw it in person.

Is your exterior Metallic Black or straight black?

FYI, I am trying to hunt down and identify the owners of the other metallic black cars. I know that one was built with the black piping but have not identified the owner. Is that you??

Mine is Metallic Black over Creme.

Almost everybody says I want Red with tan interior. Dare to be different. All mine are Red with Black. Kind of funny. That's just me.
