With in reason ;>)), you should friggin paint it the color you want to Gary.
Besides, if it's not original then we can rag on you all the more!

Seriously, don't you whish there was a progrram than could process really nice high-res photos of your car and easily change the color to what ever you want so that you could visualize it. I'd like something like that for my race car I'll be painting this winter and I can't afford Chip Foose.

When you get serious about the color make sure you mix some up and test it in bright sunlight, dusk, dawn etc. It's a realively cheap experiment.

Did you see the 8-track tapes on the console? :D

A broken valve begs a few more questions.

    Was it overheated?

Run without air filters and sucked in a foreign object?

If a valve is really "broken" one can assume head, piston and possibly liner damage. No way to fix that cheaply.

23,000 miles looks like a low number but it's likely that a few more expensive things need attention if the new owner wants to drive their high-revving 37 year-old Lambo like it was meant to be driven without leaks, knocks, embarrassing breakdowns and an even bigger bill six months later.

A complete rebuild isn't out of the question and a look inside the gearbox would be easier when it's already out of the car (2nd gear synchro anyone?).

Emilio is in the right area but without a little more information I wouldn't offer more than maybe $10K.

Whenever I see a car for sale and there are no pictures of the engine I assume the worst.

    you are right

i think, reading the ad, at 15-20kseller will let it go...
the BYN price would buy a GREAT running-cosmetic espada in US and i believe seller knows it ;)

this does not mean it would be a good buy at that price

i would agree on offering 8-12k$

to be even more safe i offered less than that! : )

The car indeed looks clean and rust-free but there aren't any photos of the areas that are prone to rust and if the interior has been damp it might have a mold problem that you can't see in pictures. I'm not suggesting that any of this is the case here but I've been fooled by photos before.

Until we look under the hood we really can't be sure if there's anything there. ;)

Just a new exhaust system for this car is serious money. I'd like to see that before I bid.

    Hi Olivier,

When I replaced my hood badge I checked with the dealer they said that this part was coming with the old-style badge, I received only the badge, then they said that part was not available..., so I used the original black support which I slightly painted. Does this part also used on the Jaramas and Isleros?

Well there are a few clues. Small low-res pictures, that front mounted mirror, missing leather shift boot, missing front turn signal lens, the interior looks dirty too. All of this says to me it's not been taken care of that well. I think I would have detailed it before listing it. It just makes such a big difference.

I've not seen that color on an Espada before. Is it really original?

Someone who can do ALL the mechanicals themselves engine & trans is the likely candidate. That or it's a parts car.

I know. Is your interror good enough that most of it can be saved ? If not then the current color is irrelevant.

Looking at the condition of the car, cars around it and the neighborhood, I'd say this was bought at an estate sale, probably with undisclosed damage, and the 'lucky' buyer has been trying unsuccessfully to find a cheap fix. Now he's stuck...
He could sell that beat up 70's Javelin parked on the street and not even be close to finishing the needed repairs =)

And dropping a valve generally means ruined piston, head and cylinder damage, and possibly a bent connecting rod. Aluminum heads generally do not fare well when repeatedly beaten with a sharp edged hardened instrument like a valve. OR it could be that a valve was stuck from long storage and broke off when someone tried to get it started, which is the best possible scenario I guess.

If it really was a CA car, wouldn't the blue California license plates still be with the car? They generally register the same plate to the car throughout its life.

+1: original color on this car should be silver, wrong tailpipes, trunk is a mess, still no photos of engine bay or under the car... Now buy-it price is at $54,5K... Mmm...

I'm sorry in advance but the seller is a complete jerk off. Simply because of the Buy It Now and condition. It simple says he is seeking a sucker.
