many years ago I bought this kit from US with the ambition to build it one dark winter, but suddenly I was blessed with two wonderful kids and time is no longer available for this kind of nice hobby.....

    so, guys ....

I have for sale one F40 kit, opened with an partly built motor (in US before me), all documention is there and I´ve also bought a couple of transkits, motor, brakes and some other small ones..

As far as I can see all parts are there, no cracks in windows, rubber soft

I think the ambition from previous "owner" was to build some kind of racecar variant, but not sure, airinlet in bonnet made, needs therefore a repaint

    Anyone intrested ?

Price idea around 1000 USD, and of course I can ship worldwide

    Thanks

    Ulf Hanson, Sweden

$ 1000 is way to much!
In Europe you can get one at around $300

An unbuild mint in box F40 can be bought between $800 - $1000 but one part build you can divide the prize ...a serious builder will never buy someone's messed up models for that prize. An air inlet in the bonnet :(

Sorry at the moment I have none.
I used to buy them on local auctionsites to sell them on.
The profit was used to build my collection of handbuilts.

I will let you know when I get another one.

Fair offer? Ok. Starting value of mint kit: $800-1000. Deduction for being started: $500. Deduction for being modified: $300. Bonus for additional transkits: $100-200. Offer $300.00

Edit: just noticed your "GFYS" to moriaan1. Be nice or be gone!

The $1,000 Pocher F40 boat sailed a long time ago. Those were the days. Along with the Rosso 1/8 Ferrari F1 car which used to go for huge $.

I agree the 500-600 US is about the range.
Brady Ward is a good one to contact- he has his own website if you google his name.

    GFYS???

    Are you serious?

I think you will find that our friend has a lot of experience and is just trying to let you know, along with others that you will receive nowhere near $1000 for your used kit.

    OK,

I am sorry for my remark, not necessary I suppose, but do You reallly think that I have some use for his unlimited knowledge about pricelevels ? Either he have an intrest and give me an offer or no intrest and keep away from the tread

If prices for Pocher kits is low, thats OK, i´ve been out of this "business" for almost 8 years.

If You look into Ebay today there is no F40 kits for sale.

I thought that it would be nice to sell kit in the enthuisast world, but now I am going to try selling it locally, thanks to this tread there is no one ever giving me an reasonble offer

And Yes I know Scaledetails, I´ve boughht all transkits from him

and agaiin, sorry for my rude remark, not necessary.

    I paid about $650.00US shipped.
It included a few transkits as well (engine, brakes, and more).
I assembled it too, with good results.

I have an unopened F40 kit (K55) still sealed in the factory plastic. Never been touched or seen! I bought it at a local hobby shop in 1990 when I was in college and had no business buying such a thing. But I knew it was special and wanted one. I almost opened it several times, but then bought a built one and never was tempted again to open the original.

Definitely keep it. It should be worth about $5K around 2015.

Couple comments on the unopened F40.

Factory never wrapped the box. The box would be taped at the factory but not wrapped. Some distributors wrapped the box.

I would not value a unopened box more $. The packing by Pocher was not all that great. Chipped paint on the body or cracked clear pieces are not uncommon. The clear pieces (in particular the rear hatch and rear glass) are tough to deal with. There is a aftermarket rear hatch vacuform piece available but it is not as clear and sharp as the Pocher part.

Remember the factory is long since closed so no replacement parts are available.

Like the garage queen Ferrari- while the uneducated buyer may think its the way to go, reality is different.

I am not sure I want to sell it. I may go all out someday and pay to have a master model builder do a super scaled build. Although, if it would ever get to 5K, I'd probably take the money and run.

Thanks for this information! There is sticker on the outside of the wrapper that looked like it was from the factory, (you can see it in the picture) so I assumed it was wrapped at the factory. I now know differently.

Since you seem to really know about these:

How many k55 kits were built?
How many years were the kits built before Ferrari shut them down?
In what years were they produced?
How much would a master model builder charge to do an extreme build on this? 5-10K?

    Thanks,
    e
