Any chance you could post more pictures of the top mount or maybe even share a design file?

I am looking into the same solution but will go for a new Öhlins damper that will come out early next year called TTX36 Inline. But I still need to come up with a good design for the top-mount. I have seen a few different solutions but I like yours as it will give the longest damper and preserve more travel. Haven’t gotten any data of this damper yet but from what I can see it looks pretty long and that is of course another reason to push it as far up in the top mount as possible….

TTX36 has been out for a while actually, its a very nice damper, but very expensive. You pictured the TTX40 MKII though, as the TTX36 has an external piggyback reservoir.

This is the TTX36 http://www.ohlins.com/PageFiles/300/ttx36_car_PUFF.jpg Won't fit on a 355Ch. You'll need the TTX40 MKII, which with mounts, springs, bearings, etc will run over $10k, plus setup.

I know someone with a TT44 setup for sale if you're interested. Setup for 355 ready to go. If you're interested let me know.

Basically just measure the 4 posts and make a hole in the middle to clear the eyelet. Then machine some spacers and you're good to go.

I designed the mount exactly for the reasons you stated. It allows for good compressions travel (although 355ch needs very little compressions and droop) and it also allows for proper ride height.

Yep, but it's going to cost a lot from what I have seen. if it's even half the price of TTX44 you're looking at a pretty big price tag. But if it does have the same performance...I could look into that to replace the ST44's I got :)

Keep us posted with your project.

I should have this 355ch with the ohlins on track in the next 3-4 months once it thaws out up here in the NE.

Havnt heard any exact prices yet. But from what Öhlins in Sweden told me, these are not aimed at the high end users, and prices should be in the same range as the other TTX36 dampers. If that is tru then it sounds good to me. We will just have to wait and see I guess...

There is also a new TTX46 Club Racing spec damper out, damn! I should have got these instead of the custom ones i had to put together for my E46.

Also, it looks as if the TTX36 Inlines will be VERY cost effective....somewhere around $1200 a corner, very well priced.

Moton makes shocks and mounts that bolt right into the F355. I have them on my car and they are great.

The moton 355 kit does not compare to the Ohlins though...but the motons are definitely a nice upgrade from the Ch bilsteins.

Their are two types of Motons for the F355. A sport shock and the triple adjustable race shock. I don't know much about the Ohliens, but I would think the triple adjustable are comperable?

Well if we're talking the TTX damper, its WAY better than a standard motorsport moton...but at this point you're talking about the requirement of a professional engineer to take advantage of the shocks beyond what a professional driver can do for the car in terms of driving it to its potential.

Moton has a great product, but Ohlins are a step up :)

They are probably not directly comparable. The ttx series are full of new functionality that is new.

I'd be willing to sell the Ohlins setup if anyone wants it...

Update: Drove the 355ch on the street today, and we're definitely keeping the car. Its substantially smoother and more precise than the bilstein Challenge coilovers, but we'll see how it does on the track. So far though, it seems like a huge improvement, just will need to dial it in at the track...but it feels really nice.

What are the changes you have done to the car?

I custom built ST44's for our 355ch. Euro challenge bumpers, stripped interior, stripped doors, and its a well setup chassis...well just have to dial in the shocks a bit, but so far it seems nice.

Any info/data that you are willing to share? Would be great to know a little bit about damper length, travel and mounting points? Maybe a few pictures ;-)

Well, first thing is ST44's are no longer available...you'll need to use the new TTX36's that have built in reservoirs...i'd love to swap those in as the ST44's have an external reservoir.

I used the max length available for the ST44 (numbers not on hand) and cnc machined some custom upper mounts to allow the max shock length and lowest ride height with enough droop and compression (not much of either needed due to shock angle).

Will finally be getting some time to take the 355ch out and see how the Ohlins do. We already had the 355ch on the street with the Ohlins and it felt good so far haha

We will have coilovers, sway bar links, braided brake lines, and chromoly control arms with spherical Bearings for sale in the next 3 weeks. Coilovers will come in two stages. A street/track setup and a full track setup with new suspension mounts.

What brand dampers? Where are they being developed?

Whats the reason for going 4130 on the control arms? Are they that heavy in stock form? What brand spherical bearings are you using, NHBB?

Such a small market...how many units do you plan on selling?

We are working with Penske on the coilover package. More details in the next few weeks. These upgrades are for the 355 in general, not just challenge cars.

Hmm, what do you mean you're working with Penske? Penske kits have been around for quite some time. They are pretty good, but the Ohlins new damper is still superior, more compact, more efficient, and not much more $. You should get Ohlins instead :)
