I was On a roadtrip home and was looming at 355s on my iPhone. I found one and called to ask if they'd take 55 if I could wire the money right away (they were asking 64). They said yes, so I had the money sent and the car is on it's way. It's a 98 with 30k miles and just had a full service at the cost of $8000. what do you all think?

    Well,

most would say never buy a Ferrari without a PPI.

The others will say don't do it.

Unfortunately there are too many unknowns to say whether this was a good purchase or not.

Are the valve guides done, the headers? Additionally, not every major is the same.

However, this might all be taken care off and you just got yourself a wonderful 355.

    Oh yeah, pics please :)

    And welcome!!!

    Kai

I think your car is the one featured in the blog oneyearwithaferrari.com. If so, everything about the car has been documented over the past year or two. If that's the car, I think you bought a great car, that was well maintained. I really enjoyed reading about the adventure with this car over the past year. Enjoy!

Wow, bought it sight unseen and without a PPI? You either have balls or you've got too much $$$$ that you could care less. ;)

    Good for you!!!! Bravo! Cheers!

Enjoy your F355 in good health. Drive it like it's meant to be. If things break, fix them. If it needs a major, get it done. Too late for that PPI now. Just enjoy it.

Edit: BTW, that red interior goes really well with silver. Like it.

Sir you are impulsive, impatient, irrational and just plain nuts.........................

    You're a perfect Ferrari owner :) WELCOME.

Personally I would have taken a bit of time but the car appears to be in amazing shape with all original paper work including the original Ferrari cassette player.

I say great buy :) I think that the grigio color on the Ferrari is one of the sexiest, it looks sporty and elegant all at once, and that Bordeaux interior is stunning.

wow. I love that color combo! Freaking gorgeous!!! Honestly, after reading this board for 2 years it seems there are plenty of people who did all their homework up front, had a PPI etc and then ran into some problems anyways -- myself included. There is something to be said for the impulse buy :)

Let the naysayers battle about the mechanical merits of an F355... but holy crap... they are so damn gorgeous. IMHO, it is absolutely the best looking modern Ferrari ever designed.

I live in Portland and have seen this car in person. It "appears" to be a sweet looking ride. I don't know about any of the mechanicals though. As a matter of fact, my 355 is at GPI (the place you purchased this from) getting some warranty work done now on a broken head light motor that just got replaced in January.

Hope she turns out ok for ya! She is purrrrrrrrrrrrrdy! :D

I say awesome buy! Its just a car enjoy it and drive it like you stole it.

Personally, I think it would be so cool to have a RHD 355TB for a trackcar on my local Westcoast tracks.

It is the same car as on the oneyearferrari blog (same license plate).

It looks like that guy took really nice care of it, the common problem areas have been looked after, recent service, new clutch, lots of history on it, great color and a nice price!

    Looks like you got lucky!

Yes i know i read it, the guys said he bought it after the PPI. There are loads of cars that develop problems shortly after PPIs.
As for mine it was only 3 years old when i got it along with the service stamps. the cars looked after so there we have it;)

From looking at the photo's it looks like an excellent car, it is complete with the remotes and even the factory pouch for the main remote, these are good signs.

It looks fantastic in that color combo!!

Congrats on the new toy, don't forget to post photo's once she arrives!! :)
