Ferrari. I once was thinking of keeping my 456 and the newly purcharsed 612, but since 612 is the newer version of 456, why kept 2 whereas you would only drive 612! 599 is the newer version of your 575/550?, same dilemma, I think.

Asking whether or not to sell a Ferrari or an Audi on a Ferrari chat site is kinda pre-loading your answers. I agree with Vnttg, why keep the older Ferrari when you're getting the newer version.

I've spent a lot of time behind the wheel of both cars.

    Sell the R8.

I just don't think the R8 has any soul. It doesn't stir my soul when I drive it. And I think the interior is horrendously cheap. A relative of mine has one which I have at my disposal whenever I want. Needless to say, I never choose to drive it.

The 599 is the replacement for the 575, but the 599 will be your new baby and you will really covet it and therefore want to shield it from any over-exposure to the elements. You'll feel good about using the 575 more for, say, daily driving errands or long trips knowing that you've got your pristine 599 in the garage.

And the mighty 599 you will take out of your garage often enough as your heart can stand the doubling of your pulse rate. Oh, long live the 599! :)

To me this is a strange question. I like to pick out new cars to the stable for the qualities that the others don't have. You're set on the 599, and the 575 is in concept much the same. The R8 is completely different. So for me the answer is clear:

If it was me, I would sell the 575. Actually, correction - if it was me, I would not have bought the 599 at all, kept the 575 and bought a 330GTC instead. But it isn't me.

I think you should follow your heart. Keep whatever makes you happiest.

As someone else stated the 575 as flat lined, the Audi is bound to go down further (like a brick) besides IMHO it is but ugly.

Gary- You jumped in the R8 without question and drove it from FL to NM, but you shipped the 575M from FL to NM last year because you did not want it to be damaged on the interstates or to add too much mileage. I think that answers the question. The R8 is a daily driver you can park in Madrid, NM and not worry about door dings because it is just a car.

Someone else will treasure the 575M, and you will treasure the 599, and you will still have the Audi for a daily driver with a lot of panache. Plus your wife loves the R8.

So two treasures and no nice DD or one treasure and one nice DD? Think you already know the answer.

u could probably buy a R8 back in 4 years with the same mileage for 1/2 of what you could currently sell it for. can u say the same with the 575 ?

I just moved to Sarasota and hate to meet you this way. I'd have to let the 575 go. It almost hurts to say but it just makes sense, and you'll have all the passion you can stand in the new Ferrari.

    Enjoy the open roads!

Cancel the order on the 599. Sell the Audi and the 575. Buy a 86-88 Ferrari 328 and a 90-92 Ferrari F40 then ask yourself why you purchased the Audi and ordered the 599.

    IMHO

    Thanks guys.
As many of you surmised both are planned to go. I will miss the 575 most, however the R8 is not to be dismissed too easily. It's like a tamer 430 with a better gearbox but heavier steering.
And Terry is right I doubled the R8's mileage to 4000 in 3 days cross country.
That is what I resolve to do with the 599, drive it hard and put it away wet. Get some red rock dust from Sedona and gallon dippers from Georgia to whack the clearcoat !

Gary- Several people are drooling over your 575M. What would be really nice would be a 575M with 599 drivetrain. That would be a keeper.

Kinematically, you cannot beat a 599, but the 575M wins the beauty contest. I would love a 599, as well. Just not possible for me.

I'd sell them both and buy a Scuderia or stradale instead...If that's not your thing maybe a 430 spider or 512 boxer.

Terry as usual makes perfect sense. For me the R8 would go simply because the 575 is just so darn good looking. Tragic I know but there you have it

Would you keep the V8 R8 if you were contemplating buying the V10 R8? So why keep the 575 if you're contemplating a 599? The R8 and the 599 are completely different cars. And unless it's just personal taste, which it could be and that's perfectly alright, the R8 is a superior car than the 575.

William- Not a superior car at all. Just a newer car. 575M is actually quicker. Motor Trend did a comparison test a while back on a 575M and got a 12.25 second @118 mph quarter mile.

Plus it is nowhere near as pretty.
