Add us to the list. Enjoyed this last year, and hope my schedule allows us to join this year as well.

This past weekend we finished up the end of the route, trying to stay on the edge of the developed areas and were pretty lucky in finding alternative roads. The beginning and mid point we mostly have worked out so in the next two weeks we will be able to finalise the complete route and run it.

Now for the important item-the date, start time and place.

I want to thank Jerry Lee Phillips for kindly allowing us to use his place of business for a start location.

    The Date: December 5th, 2009
    The Time: 8:30 AM
The Entry: an unwrapped toy(s) or cash donation

The start location is VICK AUTO SPORT, 5200 VESTA FARLEY ROAD, FORT WORTH, TEXAS 76119. VICK is located right off of Sun Valley and loop 820 East just north of I-20 on the west side of loop820E. (Could someone who knows how to post a google map please do so-that is an aspect of Gatesian technology I have never mastered.)

Before the complaints start coming in---you will put some miles on your car this year's run!
For the folks in N. Dallas this is only 3 miles farther than the start place for the 3rd toy run(TMS) and for the folks in Fort Worth this is right in your back yard.

I also want to thank Jerry with Speciality Carriers for offering his assistance if someone has a problem. Autoscope, The Boardwalk Auto Group, Norwood Performance Center, Ruf Auto Centre and A Tin Lizzie Affair for acting as toy/cash donation centers for people who cannot make the run. I will be talking to some people and groups this week so I expect to have a couple of announcements later concerning additional support.

Please talk up this year's run to everyone you know. My goal this year is 125+ cars and we have the room to launch and accept this or a greater number plus it will be a huge donation to 2 groups that are deserving. If anyone knows any one in any of the local car clubs please contact them. Thanks for all of your help.:)

Do you want me to list ppl / screen names of those that have confirmed or keep them seperate and just give you a total number?

Also, would anyone be interested in pre-meet in Dallas and driving over as a group to the official starting point?

Don, do you have an idea as to how long the run will take, or when you plan to end? Am thinking about my schedule juggling options.

Put me down as tentative, Carolyn. I believe you know of my c urrent situation, so i will be a navigator, should anyone be needing one. Also, I would like to volunteer my A/V services if needed, i may be able to rope one of the companies i work with in on this as well.

Steve go ahead and tack on the screen names of the people that you have so that we can keep everyone in one spot-for counting the number of maps later on. Please make sure that each screen name or person is one car

I think the drive over is a good idea. The south parking lot of Valley View is always vacant on Saturday AM and easy access to 635W. Carolyn and I will leave early so I can't help out much here.

The address for Jerry's place is a little confusing because of the way the streets are layed out and how the post office assigned addresses.

For most people coming south on loop820E you will exit at Sun Valley. Turn right and go 1 block to Durothy and turn right there and go Vick Auto Sport which is half way between Sun Valley and Vesta Farley. Believe me you can't miss it. In addition I am getting some signs printed to direct you to the correct place.

Now parking is a bit of a problem but not insurmountable. Jerry's lot will probably hold about 40 cars, there is very little activity in that area on Sat. mornings so we can use the street as parking also. In the event that we need additional parking there is a lot at the corner of David Strickland and Durothy, which is one short block walk from Jerry's place.

We will probably launch east on Vesta Farley, so if you park on the street south of Vesta Farley park so that you are facing North. If you park on the street North of Vesta Farley park so that you are facing south. This will eliminate the necessity of a bunch of U turns and potential staging problems.

By the way Will's map (the second posting) is the more accurate.

I will post another, but I need a hand in getting my car to the run. I know, I drove it last year, but this starting point is MUCH farther away and I'd rather be safe and trailer the car to the event. So....If anyone has a trailer or other suitable contraption available for me to use that weekend, it would be much appreciated!! I have a great tow vehicle and can pick-up and deliver back to generous donor's home or business.
    Thanks,
    Scott

The start point is right off of I-20, just on the Fort Worth side of Arlington. I'd hate to see her restrained on a trailer Scott! She may not like it either. Remember that Italians can have mind of their own at times. A very temperamental one at that :)

Exactly why I don't want to tempt fate on the highway for 2+ hours prior to the run. I know she can make it, but I don't want the risk of being stranded (God forbid!!) in the metromess on a Saturday when I could just load her up and get to James' place for R & R (if necessary).

I believe I have a solid car and have the utmost faith in its performance, but I would definitely feel more at-ease with a transport.

I posted an initial list and when I talked to Steve he said that he had about 25 or so cars so he posted his list. DAN, my friend, you are still in. I will combine the lists this weekend so that we have one to work off of.

I was hoping to have a couple of announcements by last night but I am still waiting for confirmation.

I don't know if I will be in it, but count in my 86' SVO. I may be driving a Boardwalk car. My wife would then drive the SVO.

let me tease you for a minute Scotty! you have a late model 355 and you are worried enough about its reliability to trailer it? :D

seriously though, consider the risks and headache you take tailoring it. Scrapping bottom of car loading and unloading along with wheel straps scratching through wheels along with underside.

I would loan the flat bed trailer, but even with the dovetail it isn't good for low Ferraris. The enclosed would be perfect, but I don't want to loan out until I get title from previous owner.

Yeah, Rob, it's not so much the reliability, but the risks of Interstate driving at 5:00am in December. I'm not at all worried about the car's ability, just the chances you take when you're looking at a 300+ mile day on the road.
In my Rover, I do it many times a week. Windshields are around $500 and I've replaced several. A windshield on a 355 might cost a little more than I'm prepared to fork over at the moment.
