Hello Psarofim If you bought that car you bought my car. It is in great shape. My father was planning on buying it so I sent it to the local Ferrari dealer and said fix everything. Not such a good idea but it is a really nice car. It is the car from one year with a Ferrari. I will send you a copy of the book as soon as it is back from the editor. Please feel free to PM me with any questions. Cheers. David
And if you bought that car, you showed me pictures of it today on your phone. Looking forward to seeing it.
Yes, you're absolutely right. I have nothing better to do than pretend to have bought a Ferrari and ask people for their help and advice. I'm so busted.
Mmh, so why would Gran Prix still sell the car on eBay?? It's the same VIN number. Ebay seller is Grand Prix Imports and the pictures are the same as the OP showed? Now how does make this any sense? The auction will close Nov 19, 6 days from now... Interesting. Time to play a card? Kai
Not spotting you as a potential scammer, spotting the person who sold you your Ferrari as a potential scammer. You wired the money and you have have it on their word that the car is on its way, however the fact remains that the same car is still apparently for sale on eBay and accepting new bids... that's worrying. I really hope your car arrives, I really hope it does - it's a gorgeous car (fantastic colour combination) and I'd hate to see you disappointed if it doesn't appear on your drive as promised. Fingers crossed, and I'll be back to offer my most hearty congratulations when it arrives. The OP could have gotten the link for the images from the seller they bought from. All the best, Andrew.
The company selling the car on Ebay has been online since 2005 and has sold 25 items mostly cars. Doesn't look or read like a scam to me. Probably just haven't taken down the auction thats all.
I have to say, that is one of the best looking 355s I have ever seen. I just love the interior. I would also say that the condition of the interior bits looks much better than most. Take some more pictures after you get the car. Stunning find.
my guess is the seller is leaving the auction up to identify potential buyers for other 355s. After they remove the auction citing that its been 'sold locally' in a couple days they will follow up with the losing bidders to see if they are interested in other cars
Jumping Jebus on a Pogo Stick - that is hands down the most beautiful color combination I have ever seen on a 355. Nice find!!!
+1 you da man. I love those things. warts and all. there will be a cult following (moer than now lol) for 355 one day.
unfortunately many dealers seem to do this (especially in CA for some reason). They leave the cars up for sale until the sale is 100% complete. It happened to me on a 430. I thought for the longest time I was getting taken for a ride. That the dealer was going to try to take a wire from me... then if it brought more money on ebay.. I would be told sorry and then they would refund my money. Luckily this didn't happen
Seems some of you don't know how the "Car sales business" works ---- it is absolutely common practice for a dealer / broker to continue running an ad / listing / Ebay auction for a car after a deal has been struck. Many reasons justify them for doing this, but the main reason is that until the "cash is in their hand, and the car is out their door", the sale is only "pending". They cover their bet by continuing to have the car for sale. That said, many of the uh.... more classy folks.... will put the "sale pending" disclaimer on their ads.... I'm just saying.... As for that car, I looked at a while back on a visit to Portland. It is a beautiful, very healthy 355. But, 55K is a little high ---- I believe it could have gone for closer to 50K.
The car is sold. Cars stay active in ads until funds clear, paperwork is done etc. Unfortunately deals unwind, people change their minds everyday. It's very hard to pull an ad, then explain why it's back up for sale when the deal falls apart. I'm excited for this cars' new owner. It's always a bonus to find out you actually made a better purchase than you thought when the car arrives.
Thanks for the explanation - and no, I had no idea that happened. I just assumed (incorrectly, it seems) that once a deal was reached and the wire sent that the advert would be pulled immediately. All the best, Andrew.
For those of you not local to this car (Portland, Or), there is no reason at all to distrust Gran Prix Imports. (the seller on eBay AND the "Brick and Mortar" dealer who sold the car.) They are also a FerrariChat sponsor, last I recall. They are an established exotics dealer and an Official Lamborghini Dealership and Factory Service Center (Lamborghini Portland). No, I don't work for them, BTW. Been there many times for functions, events and driven a few of their cars. Congrats on the car! The 355 is my favorite 'modern' Ferrari, and it looks like you found a fine example. Hopefully luck is on your side, and it's as good mechanically as it is cosmetically.
That's a point. Once you have wired the money, it would appear that the buyer has committed. At a minimum the ebay listing should should disclose that sale is pending (like an MLS listing). Otherwise, what happens if I click "buy it now" at the agreed online price? How would GPI handle that? Kai
Kind of misleading reply. I was only implying that when asked if it was the same one on ebay, perhaps that was mentioned as a red flag. Forewarning that the car had already been sold so if it was on ebay either was not removed due to being sold not online or someone was trying to re-list an item already sold (ie..scam).
I always like traditional rosso corsa tan interior for a Ferrari, but I have to admit this interior is stunning. It really complements the grigio exterior.
