Remove the factory muffler and fabricate a pipe to bolt in where the muffler was. I kept my cats in place to be legal. Passes CA smog with no problems. You will like the sound. I did this on our Lambo and the TR. You will like the scream from the 12 cyl engines. If you want put a stainless steel packed chrome tips like we did on the Lambo (Monza Type). It gives that beautiful glass pack high pitch sound when you blip the throttle and at WOT.

I have a Bell on order for my BB512i, which of course has a flat 12 engine too. After listening to many sound clips, I found the Bell to sound as good or better than the other major players... for much less money. http://www.bell-silencer.co.uk/

    Greg D,
I did exactly that to a 512TR and the car ended up producing 11 BHP less than the stock exhaust. Tested on a dyno.

    Megaquote.
I'm from Italy, so nearly every single Ferrari i see, is fitted with TUBI or Bartoli (a small handmaker, which serves also Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese)...TUBI has a deep sound.

But when you listen to an MS Racing engine ,even in videos, you can hear the difference.
    This is lovely:

Except made of the 412 T2 1995 F1 Car (best sounding car ever made in every category IMHO) and the 333 SP, this F50 is the best sounding road car i ever listen, even if only on video.
Love the high-pitched Kriessieg exhaust aswell - even if they are crazy priced - , liste an this (old i know, but still amazing) !

My 87' TR came new with no muffler from Ferrari when delivered new. I do not know about dyno numbers but it had condiserably more power than my 84 TR with the factory muffler set up. When we bought the TR we said the 84 TR did not sound like a Ferrari and we liked the Lambo set up with only four cats and Monza tips. When we picked up the new TR it had no mufflers and only four cats. They said the TR had Cat/Muflers, whatever that meant and was set up for it. It is not too loud to me but I like loud. MY BBC 510 CID 63' Splitwindow Vett has a 4" custom Jerry Stall header / side pipe exhaust with spiral insert. The Vett develops 500 ft-lbs at 2,000 RPM and peaks at 602 ft-lbs. It is loud.

Looks like a mufflerless exhaust system works on the Testa but not the 512TR then.

Don't wanna bring the thread OT, btu for me the REAL F1 sounds were those from the V12 era...a couple of examples:

Ferrari 412 T2 1995 (IMHO best sounding car EVER) :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwmvVWSvSpg

    McLaren MP4/6 1991:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX9DldzpS7Y

Those were the REAL F1 cars IMHO, 10 cylinders were almost acceptable, even if the sound it's different...nowadays those V8 have only the highRPS scream...but not the deepness of the V12.

MS Racing fabricates excellent exhaust systems! They are 2nd to none in craftsmanship with a great deal of attention to performance, weight and sound. Nothing sounds like an MS. I have installed them on 355, 360, 550, 512 TR and Diablo. The sound track for the Diablo on the X-box 360, PGR3 video game is a MS racing setup.

BTW, I have a 512 TR system at my shop collecting dust. If anybody is interested, feel free to shoot me a PM.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Agreed.

My TR on the dyno 12/24/09 with Capristo "Sound 2", not quite an F1 sound but good enough for me.
Mind you that an F1 idle speed is only slightly less than the redline on my TR.

The graph is at the end of the video, RWHP was 310, about 5 to 10 HP below what I estimated the RWHP should be using figures from US spec 380 HP at the flywheel x 15 to 17% parasitic loss.

OK, guess it's not going in the right direction of an F-1 sound, but what exhaust makes it sound like this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyN18tcFvU4

To the uneducated ear like mine it even sounds a little like a cross-plane V-8 idling, maybe not as out of place as one of those V-8 Countach kit cars, but just doesn't sound like a Testarossa to me anymore.

Actually it reminds me of my buddy's Diablo with Larini exhaust on it, and no catalytic converters.
Basically straight pipes with one small can of an excuse for a muffler that doesn't.
