    Hope some one can help. I have my 348 TB for two years now but I had it laid up for more than a year and have just .put new battery in and she fired up. But I have noticed the clutch pedal has gone very soft, I have to pump it in order to get pressure in it. I can bleed it from the gearbox. but before I do this is this the norm after storage as I cant understand how it has lost pressure, only 27000k on the engine and before I stored it I had a full service with belts changed. any replys would be great. I love my 348.

    Welcome to Ferrari Chat, Stephen;

    Your clutch shouldn't need to be bled after storage, but the symptom you describe does sound like there is air in the line. Check the fluid level in the front trunk, it's the same tank that holds the brake fluid, make sure the level is between MAX and MIN. Also check around the perforated metal panel on the bottom of the clutch housing, to see if there is any evidence of fluid drips that have come from the clutch bearing/cylinder. You should be careful to check your brake operation as well before you head out onto the road. If there is a leak in the brake system, it will drop the fluid level in the tank below the outlet for the clutch system before it reaches the outlet for the brakes. Who knows, maybe a mouse chewed through one of the flexible brake lines?

    Just in case, have you "re-initialized" the Motronic control units after replacing your battery?

    Enjoy your 348!

    Hi Jeff,
    Thanks for the quick response. I have had it out on the road and the brakes are ok, what do I need to do re (re-initialized" motronic control units?? I hope I am not doing any damaged to anything .I have only just done a couple of miles. I dont intend to let it sit this long again without starting it.

    Re-initializing just resets the baseline parameters on the Motronics. The procedure:

    Disconnect the battery for a minute, then reconnect.

    Start the engine, but don't touch the gas pedal. Just let it idle.

    Run the engine at idle for about 10 minutes, or until the cooling fan cycles.

    Shut the engine off, then restart as normal. Done.
