    why would the rattle noise only be at cold start for 1-2 min then stop ? why would it not rattle all the time?

    First of all do yourself a favor and get that fixed pronto, if you let the chain get worn you will need to open the engine to change the chain and that will be very expensive. The noise is most obvious when its cold but if you put the car on a hoist and use a stethoscope you will hear it even when its warm.

    i have to take off the engine pan and front cover to do tensioner , so ill do bearings and chain at the same time, always something
