As we drove by the parking lot where we will all collect pryor to leaving for the base I think I heard the first musical lines of the Hallelujah Chorus. Yes indeed we actually ran the run in it's entirety for the first time. It is 74.5 miles long and it took us 1 hour and 38 minutes to do it. The time length is due specifically to the Ft. Worth urrrrrban spraaaawl. You must also remember we did it at the speed limit to which you all also should adhere.

So we will rerun it on Thanksgiving just to tweak it and then on Saturday to Ferrarize it. Everything else seems to be falling in place so now we pray for good weather and a huge turn out.

Well we went out Thursday AM and Ferrarized the part of the route I was a bit concerned about and it is fine! The route seems to flow pretty well once you get out of the spraaal.
We will run the entire route at the correct time this Saturday just to see what the traffic is like. Still hoping for one more piece to fall into place

Ok the report on the at time run for next Saturday. Additional problems cropped up with apparently intelligent street lights. There is no way to get to the main part of the run unless you make a left turn (1 of 4). The problem we encountered is that when we were doing planning we knew where we wanted to go so we did not do the left turn-just the road and how to get there. On Saturday we got into he left turn lane and bumped smack dab into a 7 second left turn light and you can only make a left on the arrow. In addition we noticed a police presence that we had not seen before.
Therefore, I have come up with a little different twist on the start-which will be explained on Saturday

The roads are good, there are a few bumps, but they will be noted on the maps

I still have a couple of items to work out this week but everything should go well.

If you want to make a cash donation I will have an envelope at the run otherwise 1 or more toys.

    Don,
Thanks again for putting this together. I had an amazing time last year. For those writing a check, to whom do we make it out? I will bring toys, too, more if I can find a trailer to haul the car in with.
If anyone on this thread will let me borrow their trailer, I (and my lovely 355) would greatly appreciate it!!
    Thanks :)

you can borrow the flat bed trailer, never put a Ferrari on it before though. might be loading and unloading issues even with the dovetail.

    Thanks, Rob.

Did you use it with your RX-8 race car? Do you think it's too tall or are the ramps too short?
I have used a break-trailer before, and we had to load it in a ditch (literally) and unload it by undoing the hitch and holding it as we backed the car off.

If you used it for your track car, it should be ok, right?

Just used for RX-7 and RX-8's. Both sit higher than a 355. I think the dovetail actually works against you a little as it creates a little bump. Even with the Mazdas I would try to back up towards a hill, put extra boards under the ramp, and jack up the front a little. I'm sure you could get it to work, would just have to be careful.

Also, when I tie-down the 355 in the enclosed it attaches to D-rings in the floor. Attachment points on flat trailer are usually higher and can rub underneath.

    Here are some pics...

    Thanks Rob,
That gives me a little more perspective. I have been networking here locally for an enclosed, as I would really like to secure the car without any issues. If I can't get his trailer, I may just have to drive. Thanks alot for the offer, I'll let you know if I can use it.

Scotty, remember that if you lift the tongue of the trailer that decreases the angle of approach for the car. This makes it easier for you to load a low clearance vehicle. Then when the car is on the trailer you let the tongue down on the hitch. I had to move an 8,000 lb. fork lift one time (very low clearance vehicle) and it had a bad transmission so it did not move. We put a 3 ton Hein Werner floor jack under the front of the trailer, lifted the frond, hand winched the fork lift onto the trailer and let the front of the trailer down onto the hitch. It was really quite simple.

I will have an envelope at the run for cash/check donations. If you would like to write a check and it is in excess of $10,000. just make it out to me:)---JUST KIDDING. Make your checks out to Collin County Children's Advocate and I will deliver that envelope on Monday to those folks.

Thanks again for all you help and generosity. It looks like the weather will be good for Saturday perhaps a little windy!

FOR ALL PEOPLE COMING FROM DALLAS AND THE NORTH--ATTENTION PLEASE!

When you are proceeding south on east loop 820 you will come upon the 820/287 junction. Just before that intersection there is a sign that says Sun Valley Exit 3/4 of a mile. The problem is that when you go under 287 you will see that there are 2 lanes of merging traffic from east bound 287 onto 820 and that makes getting to the Sun Valley exit a little difficult.

In the event you cannot safely get to the SV exit get over to the right lane and proceed south on 820 and exit on business 287 this is the next exit. Turn right and go to Parker-Henderson Road (approx. 5 blocks). Turn right(N) and go to David Strickland (approx.5 blocks) turn right there and go 3 blocks to Durothy. Turn right there and go 1 block to Vesta Farley.

Scotty, I used Robs trailer to pull my 328, and it took some planning. I got 2 10' 2x12's, had them cut into 5', 3' and 2' sections, and still had some approach problems. (I put the 5' on the ground, then the 3', then the 2', then the ramps). I'd assume the 355 will present similar problems. I used a sloped driveway, curbs, whatever I could find to reduce the angle to load/unload. No problems, but it did require some thought.

Don, add David J, in a 911 turbo cab. Coworker of mine that attended last year. He has details and told me today he'll make it.
