My 355F1Berlinetta 99 'after changing the clutch, started making a strange noise in neutral, noise that had a sound beating tin. I took the authorized Ferrari, and was told that one is a chronic problem in 355, that the problem would be the flywheel.
It really can be? This is really a chronic problem? Here the price charged is $ 15K Dollars (15 thousand Dollars).

I have had my dual mass flywheel repacked with grease (i.e. rebuilt) 3 times and I am still on my original clutch.

The dual mass flywheel is two flywheels separated with a small amount of grease and coupled to springs. This allows the FW to look like it has more mass and dampen a low RPM resonance in the crankshaft/output shaft and look like it has less mass to dampen another resonance higher up the RPM band.

Other than relacing the grease, and checking the springs and fitments inside the seal, it should not suffer "that" much wear. The FW surface can be faced on a lathe just like any other flywheel (deep gouges and other bad things notwithstanding.)

You might want to find a non-Ferrari specialty shop.....

Thank you for information, this FLYWHEEL can damage some other part of the car? I see it urgently?
So to say that this piece can be refurbished?
Thank you for your patience! This testimony was very important to her!

Did these guys fit the clutch?

They should have inspected the flywheel while the clutch was being done....

Even if the problem is the flywheel (unlikely), flywheels can be resurfaced for trivial amounts of money. Even custom made racing flywheels can be fabricated from scratch to Ferrari specs for less than $5k.

So please don't pay $15k for a new flywheel. Take pictures of your clutch pack and post the pics here.

Clutch misalignment, debris, and failed bearings can also make the noise that you describe; perhaps a better diagnosis is in order.

Friend, I'm sorry, I have no idea how to disassemble these parts to take a picture.

I'll tell you what happened today, I needed to change the Complete Power Unit F1, I had ordered arrived yesterday, and authorized Ferrari installed today.
What the car had a problem that could not hold gears when the car warmed up, the marches did not go at all. Before it was only with the reverse, was not included, and the last time I went with the car, stopped at the lights, light clutch would start to blink and it disengages the gear, then shift the car took part this defect, and thus, a surprise, the noise of the flywheel, virtually disappeared! I have some alternatives because the have gone, but I would ask an opinion of you, if you think that the POWER UNIT COMPLETE F1, it interfering too?
    Thanks

I don't own an F1 car, but I can't imagine that a hydraulic controller would make a sound like beating on tin...ever.
