While removing the fuel injection system I think I may have disturbed the position of the microswitch highlighted in the picture below.

I seem to remember that I hear a feint click from this device the instant the throttle is open just the slightest amount.

What function does the microswitch perform and what is the procedure for setting its correct position?

    Thanks for any help

It "tells" the KE-Jet injection ECUs "Hey, I'm at idle" and the injection ECUs alter the currents going to the EHAs accordingly. Here's an example of how to adjust (the important thing is to not lift the throttle plates off of their rest setscrews) and how to check electrically afterwards:

Thanks Steve I will try that tomorrow night when I get home.

I guess I should still hear the microswitch click also when the multimeter reading changes.

If it's an '86 euro TR (F113A engine), it doesn't have injection ecus. If it's a US TR (F113A040 engine), the injection ecus are mounted on top of the RH rear wheel liner under the RH rear fender as shown in the photo:

Either one -- the (single) throttle microswitch is wired to both.

Steve, if this is a simple microswitch and I do the ohmeter check at the switch housing (not through the cable). I guess I should get open and closed circuit readings.

If this is the case, where is the 140 ohm resistance coming from if I check with cable connected to the switch (as per your diagram)?

    Thanks

The "140 Ohms when cold" applies to the US version TR F113A040. Your F113B has less cold running stuff (fewer relays in the black triangular box) so I think that yours should measure "open/infinite" when cold (or warm) with the throttle plates (and idle microswitch) are opened. Sorry for not previously recognizing this difference between the engine types.

Hey Steve, you must try harder next time :)

Joking apart, I have always found your help to be first class and right on the money. With bloody annotated diagrams as well to boot......

I adjusted the switch as per your instructions and heard the microswitch click as I got close to full CCW. It works now as before. As soon as the throttle comes off fully closed the click can be heard.

Thanks for your very valuable help.
