Caught four BIG snapper today and a shark. Does this count? :)
On Sunday 6th December the Auckland region of the FOCNZ had its annual Christmas fun run and lunch. As usual the turn out of cars was excellent and as diverse as ever. This year we had a special guest along, yes, Santa made an appearance but there was also another special guest, NZ's only Enzo came out in the sun. This was my first time to see the Enzo out of the showroom and I must say this car changes in the sunlight, sitting on proud display by the entrance to our lunch venue. It was a stunning sight, as was the car park full of Ferrari's. Passer by's were enticed into the car park with cellphonecamera in full swing. The run was short this year, only around 100kms of nice flowing roads, with some really good twisty stuff towards the end, my car danced between the corners and sounded glorious as ever. We were blessed with outstanding weather for the day given that the week building up to Sunday was terrible not to mention storm warnings for the region as late as Friday. On the way home I took the opportunity to run my car through a tunnel, having never experienced this before I was as excited as a kid in a candy shop and the result did not disappoint. My passenger took a video of the tunnel pass on his phone, here is the youtube link for those who are interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQu9y4sDrPY All said and done it was another brilliant event, I would like to thank those that organised it as I had a day to remember. Excellent pics James. Even I've got a big smile on my face after the tunnel clip. SENSATIONAL. Should make a good ring tone me thinks. Was that Waiwera I saw. That must be the new bypass that is around Orewa?? or am I completely in the wrong spot? p.s. the Giallo 308 looks beautiful.
Thanks!! Ya lost me on the location of that tunnel, it's north of Auckland and bloody awesome!! $2 each way... Giallo is THE color for 3x8's IMO.
Unless of course you have black and silver plates and the cameras can't read them so its $0!!! Just luuuuv dropping two gears midway through the tunnel
I see Jeff is a local regarding the tunnel, considering he lives in the Whangaporoa Peninsula, I have it as a gues that its around Wairera. The sign just before the tunnel is hard to pick up. On the Giallo 308, mine was finally being buffed today. I needed sunglasses walking into the paint shop. It's just awesome, it glowed. Can't wait to get 98 Octane out to take photo's when it's finsihed.
Heres me all excited that kimi is in the WRC... thought it might actually inspire me to watch a season very closely for once. only to find out at the bottom of a autosport article: "Raikkonen and Ogier will contest 12 of next year's 13 WRC rounds, but will skip the New Zealand event." we don't smell THAT bad...... do we? (source: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80431 )
Now for Mount Messenger...followed by a blast through the Awakino Gorge. Only trouble is that the tunnel is one-way...so get someone either side and go for it...I want to see the vids thanks ;-) PS did anyone check whether the fella driving the Conformodore Station Sedan needed a change of underwear??
Nah...still Metro...I fly into AUK on the 20th Jan...looking forward to the break and the Bruce McLaren Festival... big time. PS in case you were wondering...yes...I have driven thousands of klickometres around most of the Nth Isle in the past.
