Are there any pro or cons on ceramic brakes on a 612? I have choices for 2008 model cars with and without them, but have no experience with them, can the forum help in some direction? I do not plan to run the car hard, normal driving 90% of the time. Do they add much in value of the car compared to one without them?
I love my CC brakes. If you go on the track, or drive the car hard, you'll be amazed by their stopping power, especially considering the size of the 612. True, it may not be as big a deal in every day driving, but I still prefer them. The other nice thing is that you get much, much less brake dust on the wheels, so they stay much more clean.
Love mine on the 599 and on my old Superamerica. But, rotors are 5-6k each. Shouldn't need replacing with normal driving, but may if you use them hard, as I do. Pads aren't too expensive. SD3 can read how much wear you have, need to weigh the rotors IIRC to get real wear rate.
They look better - cost more - are the new standard for all F cars... I would prefer not to have them as they are just too expensive to maintain given the choice. Many guys at the service center here switch out of CCB. FYI - I learned here... the 612 and the Subaru have the same brake set up.
** CC brakes will be outdated in 2010 -11 There are much better braking systems on the way! I would steer away from Ferrari CC brakes if you can.
