    Did it certainly require a new one? I had just assumed the one off the stock grill would detach and could be moved over, or was it permanently mounted?

    Outstanding work Mike...

    Mike I will have to fly you in for a weekend of Garage fun sometime... I need this type of help with my little Fiat race cars.....I will show you some pics of what I am trying to accomplish...


    The first two pics are my car. The third pic is a Ferrari with the fog lights in the corners how I want it to look on my car... the last pic is an example of how I want the car to look when complete.. accept with mine having the cool fog light set up..I would need your expertise to make some type of Fog Light cradle and surround...I am also open for suggestions. Ok sorry for the hijack back to our regularly scheduled program....

    At the moment I'm using Plasti-Dip. Sprays on even and it dries even as well. It gives good stone protection to a point. I thought about powder coating, but I am not sure what the baking heat will do to the aluminum. The Plasti-Dip seems to work good and looks very OEM.

    Ah, I've heard of Plasti-Dip... some of the MINI guys use it to black out headlight rings and such. :)

    I don't have those, might be a good next project, but I did finally find lights for behind the grills I like. They will have driving, fog and maker/signals. They are made by PIAA and I think will do the job nicely. I have to manually convert the marker to a signal, but that is not hard.

    PIAA makes a good usable light, had them before for several projects and a truck.

    For the center grill section, you should paint the two brackets you made to help support it black also. With these lights you picked out behind the grill, should look great and they are the right shape. I would try to mount these along the bottom. How much of the space would they fill? If 50-60%, I would use the space above them attach the brake duct scoop. \\\

    I thought about painting the brackets, but there is just too much black and I like the contrast. I did the opposite with the rear engine cover and it looks great (see below). You need to see it in person, flash pictures don't do it justice. The PIAA's are about 6 inches long and the screens measure about 11.5 inches. I will place them on the bottom to the inside I think, will have to see. The brake duct would fit in back of the cavity behind everything. There will be a good amount of air pressure to the back.

    I know I said I was done for now, but the PIAA's showed up over the weekend. Friday I received my 600 piece weather pack kit as well, so I guess the project was still on. After a couple cold days in the garage I am very happy with the result. The PIAA's have everything I need in one light, driving lamps, parking/markers and a modified fog for a turn signal (looks and works way better than OEM). I still have to aim the driving lights and do a few small touches but I think this screen/light project is a wrap. I am thinking about actaully doing the brake ducts now. Start that in a few weeks. The front end looks great!
