I like to read the UK news, I think I've got at least some sense of what they're feeling there.

I hate to throw a wrench in here, in NewEngland, USA, "ON GOING CT GATHERINGS" do a great job. I stumbled on to this group surfing around one night on f-chat. I've made a few meets late in the season and have met a great group of people with a nice selection of cars and bikes. This past Sunday (IN DECEMBER) had a showing with fresh white stuff only days old on the ground! They keep in touch via this site and work at keeping it going. With the seasons here I guess its not looked at like the heck with it, wait till next week. We never know what mother nature might try to do to take away some seat time. (When the roads are bad, thats different) Anyway, (not to take you from f-chat) but do a local search for car clubs in your area and check'em out. Just because a local mustange, vette, or viper club gets together, someone there always knows someone who owns one of "those" Italan Cars. Most everyone will appreciate your ride, and maybe not to crash thier party, go 1st in your everyday car and you can ask if your welcome.(or post the question on thier site) Its Well Worth It!!

Boston Metro has the best network, hands down. We dropped off the Fchat radar when we were able to come up with some Fchat folks that had their own forum software and servers. Once in a while you'll see posts from us, but the bottom line is we don't rely on Fchat anymore.

Well, no - as expected, it's simply been quiet during and since the recent Haaj and Eid al-Adha. The New Year begins in just a few days.

Sindo, at one time, there used to be 25-30 people at the monthly dinners. And most would drive their "special"car, Ferrari or whatever. I have no idea why things changed. Maybe Thursday nights at 6:30 is not good for someone from Miami to drive all the way to Boca Raton. Let's face it, you never came to Palm Beach County, and Paulie, you never ventured south of West Palm. So I am missing the rational behind the negativie comments.

Maybe there is no longer any one to pull everyone together as did Martin W. Lot's has changed in the last 2-3 years. Instead of complaining maybe someone should just step up and start to organize. If I wasn't moving to Mexico........but then no one appreciates my '96 Olds.

Ron, I am sure that you and others could appreciate that some of us could not make the dinner based on where we live and work. I have only attended 3-4 down "south" and only a couple up in my area. I had always suggested meeting on a Saturday with or without wives/girlfriends, etc. As a matter of fact we used to meet once in a while on a Saturday in Pompano Beach at a nice pizza place. It was simple, convenient, good food and good friends getting together. A Saturday or Sunday for something like this makes alot of sense to me.
Sindo, you remember the pizza place don't you? We would have 20-30 people attend. It was great.
You know what? Overall, you cannot make everyone happy!
    Cheers.

I used to head up to Ft.Lauderdale for the get togethers at the Big Apple all the time, along with Paulie and the original squids. It was a decent " middle ground " as far as distance was concerned for everyone. It was also very affordable for everyone,in other words, cheap but good, and most importantly fun and laid back. Somewhere along the way
the dynamics changed, before Martin left. What I guess happened was the group trying to accomodate a few people for whom the day or times were not good and that's where it starts falling apart. The squids also had a regular F1 viewing in Doral, where at the height,
before Roberto closed the Italian Image, we would get not only Ferrari's but alll types of cars and fans to watch the races.30 or so people were not uncommon,at all the races, even the midnight and early morning ones. But I don't think it's cool to have most of the events in one area. In order for things to take hold they have to be cocsistent.Andy,Bill and I tried doing theTower shops for a while, but again people stopped coming. So again I stand by what I said,if the stars aren't aligned perfectly, nothing goes on here. Can't wait to get another car.

Lamest Geographic Section? No doubt its NY Tri-State. Lots of lurkers and gawkers and people who've never seen an Enzo before. I'd say Wannabees but I know I'll get flamed - oh well, I'm suited up.

That section used to be vibrant, exciting, interesting, entertaining, informative. Its been a long time since then.

Tri-state for different reasons. It goes from absolutely dead (now) to having a bunch of losers overrunning it (once every 18 months or so) and then they get suspended, tossed, whatever. Either way, it's not that great, but it doesn't matter if you know where else to go in Fchat.

Not true, the Haaj nor Eid al-Adha have anything to do with it. It is slow the entire year, was long before these two religious holidays, and besides not everyone that posts there is Muslim. There is no more than 1 post per week, sometimes none...I visit it daily....I exaggerated when I said 1 per month....check the stats.

Yes but its too bad that Tri-state can't serve a useful purpose for the "locals".

I sold my 348 because I never really drove it. Much depends on the weather, the locations, and the costs. The weather is always a bit iffy, but to me that's not too bad. The locations for events started as a pretty varied thing, but gradually they have become mostly in the Lauderdale area. That would even be okay for me if I were single, but with a family I can't ditch for 5-6 hours to go to a 3 hour thing an hour south of me. I made an exception to that for the Toy Rally to support Fred's efforts. There are lots of track events still, but they are just too expensive for me to participate in. The last ad hoc thing I did was probably lunch at the Mellow Mushroom in Delray that Michael F, and Scottie went to, about a year ago!

South Florida is a pretty boring place to drive sports cars. Go for 1/4 mile, stop at the inevitably red light. Boring! I have had lots of fun driving up in GA, NC, and TN a few times per year.

Putting events on is pretty expensive, and while I had hoped that people would open up their homes or businesses for get togethers, it just never really happened. We put on a few things per year at our house and opened it up to anyone wanting to attend. Our final bash was the recent barbeque.

Overall, life changes, and interests can wane. No sense in fighting it, I just plan on doing the things that are fun, close to home, and don't cost me too much. Fred does the most to keep things active, but there just is not that much interest anymore. I wish the majority of the group lived closer to home for me. I think that the slack economy here also puts everyone in a bad mood, and people don't feel like going out for fun as much.

    :(
