I wanted to share my experience with importing a 2002 Ferrari 360f1 from U.S. to Canada... A piece of cake! Of course couldn't of done it without doing my research. I found the car I wanted, I asked the dealer to provide me a screen capture of the Ferrari database computure showing all the recalls were completed. (if you have invoices showing the work... even better). Even though my car was being sold from a Porsche dealer they had the connection to get it done. CarFax also shows if the vehicle has recalls open or completed (this might work as well). Got the daytime running lights done from a U.S. authorized dealer. (keep invoice handy). Contacted Mike at Import Trader (www.importtrader.com) 416-467-6781 to prepare all the paperwork for customs and take care of transport. This was their first Ferrari import and with my help I think they can now do the job for the next guy. Once the vehicle arrived to my address I contacted John from Action Trailer Sales (905) 678-1444 to come and finalize my RIV inspection at my place at no extra charge. And now living happily ever after! LOL Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
More so, if you don't mind answering, outside of the price of the car, taxes, duties. What did it end up costing for the importation by going the route you did? Congrats on the 360! We can use one more red one for the cruises this coming year, hope you can make it out.
I saved about 30k if this is at FOO for $140 on the road! And let me tell you about the conditions this vehicle is in...when I got a PPI done - the Ferrari dealer said to me this thing is a show car.... That's when I cancelled my flight that I had booked to go view the car (I didn't even go see the car)... Just wired the money! Best $800 I've ever saved! Keep me posted about your get togethers.
Great look'in car bud!...BUT...just to be fair... you can get 360 coupe at FoO for low $100's all day long...and it's a Canadian car, dealer affiliated, local ownership and fully serviced. Congrats again.
FoO does not post prices...you need to call and/or go into the dealership and deal personally (yes personally) with the team. You will definitely pay more than a direct US comparison, but I would pay $5-$10K more to have a local car directly affiliated with the dealer and fully serviced...just my $0.02.
If it ends up being a $5-10K difference I'll definetly agree with you there. I know they don't post prices....they never do
Low 100's what year are we in?? That would mean that the car sells for $90k + taxes = low $100. FOO right now has a 2000 with 0 options and 30k for $125k. I picked up an 02 with 15k (km) all possible options from Daytona power seats (both), Tubi, Shields, all keys, full belt service by Ferrari 2months ago, new tires, Red calipers, Modular wheels, f1 with 6% wear. Trust me I've done my homework on this... I guess I have a lot of time on my hands. LOL
Thanks for sharing your experience f0430z. Good to hear real personal example that it was all relatively simple. B
i think you did alright...if the car is the real deal as you mention you probably did save 20-30K .... thats pretty sweet....if you had to buy from the US, the dealer network would a safe option ... looks like you scored mate...all the best...enjoy her in good health... i love the coupe 360... so nice to see one when we have a see of rags in toronto....Merry Xmas to you !!
awesome.... Where's all the people with their comments that the u.s cars are all accidents, high mileage, spun back odometre's etc? This is a perfect example of just how much money can be saved! Keep paying more and looking for excuses as why you did it.
I bought my 328 in the States 3 years ago...And still happy about the deal I struck then. Merry Xmas to all!
CONGRATS, love the shape of the 360 coupe, in classic Ferrari Red!!!! If I do the math, looks like you paid $85,000US plus, plus, plus, plus WOW, what a deal! Congrats again.
That is definitely an fully loaded 360.....chances are you can get your money back in a few years since you bought it at a great price. You can't even buy a decent Canadian SL500 or E550 for that price. Congrats again!
are you kidding me? If I had taken that route I would of just bought it from there to begin with. I will bring it there for service if possible as there is no better resell value for documented service.
