Beautiful TR3! I love the black/red color scheme. My car was that color before the PO meddled with it and went powder blue...

Love seeing the TR3's. My first car was a 62 3B which looked a lot like the one near the begining of this segment.

To the N.Y. owner of the black 3 with red interior, did you purchase that from a gent in N.J.?
There was an identical car like that in my neighborhood and the owner was instrumental in helping an un-knowing 17 year old get his very tired red 3 back up and running.

It would be so cool if that was that car. Owners name was Birdsee.

My cars, sorry no photo of the 3.

Oh my! I love the '26!! I've been looking for a nice boatail speedster like that for years!!! I'm so jealous.

Is it a true 26 engine and transmission, or is it a modern tranny?

I bought this car from a gentleman that was 93 years old at the time. He was the 19th employee that Ford had hired. He built this car for Edsel Ford to have race at Indy, or so the story went. The body was built by Mercury Motors in 1926 and Ford wanted no part of it. He gave the car back to the builder, who kept it until I acquired it. The motor, trans, brakes, everything are all origional, including the paint. This thing is a real handfull to drive, it really takes two people becauce you need at least 4 hands to control it.

Sorry for the late reply, but I wasn't subscribed to this thread, and let it slip my mind.

Actually, I've had the TR3 for about 30 years. It was purchased here on Long Island. It was originally red w/black interior. When I started the restoration, it soon became apparent that the body was in really bad shape due to rust. I found another body in better shape and used the best pieces from both bodies, but I still had to weld in a lot of new sheet metal.

To answer another poster's question...just about every part for these cars are available new at reasonable prices. For those parts that aren't, ebay fills the bill. I spent about $17k on the resto, but could have done it for about $12 if I didn't add so many mods! Of course, I didn't add in four years of blood and sweat into those figures. If you have to farm out a lot of work, you are better off buying one already restored.
