I'm confused. Either you took those pictures in very cloudy circumstances or that isn't Blu Dino Metallizzato, or there were two different shades of Blu Dino Metallizzato (with the same Glidden Salchi number).

My 308 is repainted to its original colour Blu Dino Metallizzato. I used a colour sample card from Omgjon and this matched the original colour that came out during the bare metal respray. Also my Glidden Salchi sticker says 106-A-72 and the factory has confirmed it as well.
But as you can see in my avatar and profile my 308 is much, much brighter.

It has mainly to do with the SUN light!
You should park the two cars side by side, in the sun, and then look again. Also, a brand new freshly repainted car will ALWAYS look different. Also, looking at colors on a computer screen always gives you a totally wrong idea and impression. Light makes a MAJOR difference.

It's the correct color, we used a similar color card. Car was completely restored and repainted in 2004. But Marcel is completely right, all depends on the sun light.

BigoDino, could you post some pics of your 308? Your car looks gorgeous in that tiny avatar!

    Dear all,
it is a pleasure to see all the available Dino colours on real cars and most of us have never seen the rare ones on a car. I had the same idea in a chapter of the dino book I am writing.
The idea is to give that overview also to people who may not know this great community or do not have internet access. I have already some nice samples of Dino 246 in different coulours collected, but some are missing. To publish a picture in a book it is necessary that the picture was taken by yourself or with permission. If you have taken such a picture of the below mentioned colours, I would be very thankfull if you could send it my emailadress in a quality of min 250kb. Currently the book will be published at the end of april 2010 in germany, but who knows if later will be an english version.

The colours I am looking fore are:
    Viola „Dino“ metallizzato 106-R-71
    Rosso Cordoba metallizzato 106-R-136
    Rosso Rubino Metallizato 106-R-83
    Oro Chiaro Metallizzato 106-Y-137
    Verde Pino metallizzato 106-G-30
    Azzurro metallizzato 106-A-32
    Celeste metallizzato 106-A-16
    Marrone „Dino“ metallizzato 106-M-73
    Grigio Ferro metallizzato 106-E-8
    Rosso Bordeaux 30-R-351
    Giallo „Dino“ 20-Y-348
    Giallo Senape 20-Y-464
    Azzurro „Dino“ 20-A-349
    Bleu Scuro „Dino“ 20-A-357

    Thank you in advance
    Nicolai

The problem with using photos of any car is that unless you use a photographer's color card (like a Macbeth ColorChecker) in some of the photos of your intended target to properly set the color balance for photo reproduction or to post on a website, you can never properly judge the color correctness, and that is a problem with the color samples posted here, and in the Blue Dino thread posted elsewhere in the Dino section. Of course, this is all compounded by your own monitor’s color issues.

Other posters in this thread have raised some questions about the particular colors of some of the photos posted. I think the best answer is that this is a nice collection of photos of Dinos in various colors, but there are some problems with color balance that may have led to misidentification of some of the colors.

Here are some photos that I took in Carmel in front of the Cypress Inn this past August (2010) of my Dino 246gt (03656) and Mark Robinson's virtually identical Dino 246gts (03890). [The third and fourth photos from the bottom were taken in front of the Gooding and Co. auction tent at Pebble Beach on the first preview day. The last two photos were taken of my Dino in front of Patrick Ottis' shop - that is Patrick in the very last photo]. BOTH Dinos are Blu Dino Met. 106-A-72 (as per the Ferrari factory website {the dinoregister has misidentified Mark R's 246gts as Blue Chiaro Met.}, no fancy extra “e” before [or after] the “u”). My car also appears in OMGJON’s posting elsewhere in the thread "Show Us Your Blue 246GT/GTS" (http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294874). In particular, Jon included an old photo of my 246gt – the blue Dino in the shopping mall on the red carpet with the NART badge on the tail just to the left of the license plate surround. The problem is that Jon has identified the color of my car as Bleu Scuro 20-A-57 and I have no idea where that color designation came from as applied to my Dino. My 246gt is NOT Bleu Scuro (and doesn't come close to matching the Bleu Scuro Dino on Bond Street at page 4 of this thread). As I noted in the Blue Dino thread, I suspect the red carpet shifted the apparent color of my car in the photo that Jon posted.

Finally, for some reason, probably the color correction issues I identified above, some of the other photos of Dinos in Blu Dino Met. 106-A-72 look quite a bit lighter than my 246gt, Mark R's 246gts, and some of the other Blu Dino Met. 106-A-72 Dinos.

These are the colors offered from the color book. The bottom right is the wheel color. Several of the reds are pretty close to each other.

Without seeing them with the naked eye, i have to say that several of the colours appear similar.

It's hard to pick up the color of the really dark colors, Bleu Scuro, Prugna and Bleu Serra look black. I think I would have to take a closeup of each color to pick up the color on those.

What are the two solid reds on that swatch book omgjon? My car goes into the paintshop on Monday and is currently finished in Rosso Corsa. I was thinking of switching to Rosso Chiaro but I've never seen a car in this colour. From pics I've found it looks pretty close to Corsa.

There is no Rosso corsa in the booklet. The closest is Rosso Chiarro which is the bright red.

Rosso Chiaro is the predecessor of Rosso Corsa. There was no Rosso Corsa up to 1985, when the 328 came out.
There is only a little difference but there is. Rosso Chiaro is a bit darker, not so shiny.
A Dino in Rosso Corsa is a no-go in my eyes.

I've checked through my car's history file and it was repainted back in 2000. It's not 100% clear but it looks like it's finished in Rosso Chiaro at present. I'll get my bodyshop to confirm but will have the car painted in Chiaro regardless.

I would take the original colour..
For #03342 that would be Bianco Polo Park 20-W-152.
Looks great on 246, also on new Ferraris. A friend of mine has a white F430 Scuderia, fantastic.
    Regards Matthias

I personally don't like Dinos in Bianco Polo Matthias. 03342 was repainted into red in the mid 80's so has been red now for longer than it was white. There is a Bianco Polo 246 M series that has been up for sale in London for years so that doesn't convince me that white would be a good choice either. If I were to change the colour I'd either go for Nuovo Giallo or possibly Verde Germoglio if brave enough.

My California is Bianco Avus so one white Ferrari is enough for me ;)
