We're thinking about comming to Scottsdale for new years and I just wanted to know if I should bring the 355? We've never been there so I just wanted to see if it would be a good idea? I have no problem with weather (rain or shine) I don't care...:) but what about leaving it in a parking lot at a hotel/motel?? Any bad area's to stay away from? I'll know more tonight about where we're looking at staying. Any input would be great!!

One thought would be to call Marcus at the Pit Stop and reserve a spot at his shop in Scottsdale at the Scottsdale airport and have him detail it for you after your drive? Then you can drive your 355 around town and leave your car secure at night and maybe rent a car just to drive to the motel. 480-584-6115.

I dont have a ferrari but im sure you wouldnt have a problem as long as you stay at a decent hotel with a valet area. Some examples would be the Hyatt, the W, and I think its the Sheraton by the kierlands always have exotics staying there when I visit.

I grew up in Phx, left there in 1995 and have lived all over since then. Every time I go back I see Ferraris driving around Scottsdale. Maybe it's the weather, but I see 10 times more of them there than anywhere else I've been.

What did anyone say that would deter you from driving your car? I have driven Ferrari's all over the country, and have never had any problems with anyone. Drive it. Park it. Cover it. Don't be neurotic.

I couldn't agree more Reg. Tammy and I drove the t cab to Scottdales for the Concourso in '05 I think. Best time ever in the car. It was early fall and not the winter though. We were in a group with Bob, Gary and Gordon. Check the newsletter for pictures. Scottdale is a very nice town and your car will blend well with others. We stayed at the Carefree Resort which was on the outskirts of town and had celeberty parking offered by the management although I ended up parking out back - no problemmo. If I was there I would do the trip again.

    Cheers!

Just the lack of replys??? Didn't look like much of a positive response! I've had the 355 all over NV, CA, and UT but other than UT I've always been with a group of other cars.

    Hey Paul,

I don't really think we will have any problems but it's always nice to travel with other cars...:) and I'm still trying to get the wife on board with it. She's not much for driving in it for 6hrs...:(

6 hours straight would be rough but we didn't do it in one setting. I can't sit for more than 2 hours as my gluts and right leg start to fall asleep. We stopped in Bull Head City for lunch. There is also a notorious speed trap halfway that somebody can tell you about -"Waco" or something like that. It would be different to go it alone but you would be that far off the beaten path for long plus there is plenty of technical support in Scottsdale if you develop a problem on the way down. We came back a different route that took us Straight to Hoover Dam in way less time than the trip down. I'd definately go again but wouldn't fault you if you didn't take the 355.

Vegas to Phoenix is only 290 miles and can be done in 4 1/2 hours, I drive mine and don't worry about it but I don't leave it outside overnight either, call Marcus and leave it at the scottsdale airpark or call the motel and ask them about how secure their parking is then drive it and have fun! You can be out after dark here and be safe, Scottsdale is a very nice area.

you will be fine. Ive parked my 355 all over the place. I would rather leave my ferrari in any part of scottsdale (including the "bad part") than park my car in vegas. There are plenty of flashy cars here so you don't really have to worry about jealous pricks vandalizing your car. YOU will be able to tell where you shouldn't be driving your car. Its pretty obvious. Stay in scottsdale you will be find. IF you go down to tempe and mix it up with the college kids... drive the rover.

I am sure you will be fine. Me personally I never took/take my "more attention getting cars" out on amateur night (New Years), but I admit I am slightly neurotic. Not really neurotic, but slightly. LOL. I am sure that your friend who owns Zuma, will know that you are bringing the car and he will provide some sort of spot for your car. My biggest worry would be all the traffic when you are leaving tempe and going home. Be on the extra defensive, and since you are driving back to scottsdale, DO NOT DRINK. THEY WILL pull over the shiny red Ferrari with a BS excuse on New Years. During the day and every other night of the year you are fine, but on Amateur night... it seems to change. Thats just my experience.

I am sure some will disagree with me... but hey... its a free country. LOL

Seriously, Scottsdale is an infinitely better place to drive and park your 355 than Vegas. There are many more expensive cars all over Scottsdale, so you will not draw that much attention. Just do it and stop worrying. It is insured, isn't it?

ahh but if something happens.... thats a dreaded holiday and vacation. Then you gotta deal with the problem of having a sitiuation happen when you are on the road vs at home... plus if its something bad and needs paint due to someone keying it... happened to my buddies M3 while we were in Tempe once (figures the one time we go) then its just a massive misfortune and headache that all could have been avoided

Tempe isn't the ghetto. I have parked everything from a 308 to an F40 on Mill, and have gotten nothing but respect.

You have got to be kidding - how old are you? Seriously. It's a college bar on Mill. More ******bags per square foot than you can imagine, maybe even more than Vegas.

BTW, Ferrari in Scottsdale is totally fine. Don't even think twice.

I absolutely agree with you that it isn't ghetto. I have had two incidence/close calls near the university.

    1. My friend and I went to a tempe college bar in an M3, came out side and his new M3 in a special order color was keyed. No we are low key people and don't shoot our mouths off or anything like that. We were only there for maybe 45 minutes anyways.

    2. The one night I didn't bring my other car out, I met up with a group of friends of mine who at the time were mostly driving Vipers, we come out of tempe market place and there were a group of 18 and youngers, who decided to spit on the blue and white viper and then kick the bumper. Once they noticed we were approaching, they decided to drop "there thuggish" demeanor and just apologize. No damage was done to the car or to the idiots... although it was close.

Not the end of the world, but has definitely left an impression in my ind

I don't hang out at college bars with drunk college kids so I can't tell you anything about taking it to that part of Tempe and what might happen.

I can tell you Scottsdale would be IMO one of the safest places to take your 355. Stay at a nice hotel like the Hyatt at Gainey etc.. Like some of the others have said a 355 will hardly get noticed to where someone is so jealous to key it etc.. My 360 is just a beater compared to cars you see out there.

I parked next to a 430 discreetly parked at Target yesterday. Scottsdale is pretty exotic friendly and there are a lot of them here so most people are kind of numb to seeing them, especially in the northern parts of Scottsdale.

That being said, Zuma is a college bar on Mill ave. Last New Years, Mill was closed off and you were not able to park there. My recommendation would be to take a car service into Tempe on NYE. Or you will be parallel parking your car on the street.

Not sure why everyone thinks Vegas is a crappy place to park your car... I drive the 355 here all the time. The grocery store, 7-11 and the parking garages at casino's I've never had a problem??? Most of the casino's have security walking around. But I've also lived here for 15 years so I guess it just seems normal to me???

What does it matter how old I am? I was invited by someone and just wanted to know if it was a good idea to drive the Ferrari to a place I've never been?

    Thanks good to know...:)

That's what I was most concerned about??? Not so much driving around Scottsdale but NYE night? The other couple we're meeting only have two seats as well so we would have to drive the 355 to the bar...:( If I need to rent a car or take a taxi I might as well just drive the Rover! I can always drive the 355 another time.
