I ask this question because I just love the new Rolls Royce Ghost, but I'm torn because I think the Bentley Mulsanne is so bad ass. So between these two brands which one has more prestige? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Bentley is the sporting man's Rolls...or the driver's Rolls. So I vote for the flying B I don't like the Phantom. I see a lot of them around here and I find it classless and exaggerated. Not my cup of tea. The Ghost, on the other hand, looks nice from the pictures. I like the Mulsanne better than both. It looks gorgeous IMO. Very classy with a touch of sportiness.
I would go for the Bentley for interior styling if nothing else. I am not a huge fan of the phantoms interior styling... now which has more "prestige"? if that REALLY matters to you, I would say for random people (non car fans) the Rolls would just cause its a rolls. But to folks who know what they are id think the bentley. entry level VS top of the line i guess. any pics of the RRs interior?
yeah i still like the bentley more though that RR is better designed then the phantom IMHO. The phantom has no character. Just big slabs of wood etc... or maybe its all character and no style i dont know, i just prefer the bentley
I'll take the Rolls. The Bentley I just dont like the look of, and interior wise, that steering wheel looks like it came straight off a Chrysler 300. Two thumbs down.
True but it was Chrysler that took it from Bentley. I just can't get over all that wood in the Bentley compared to the Rolls.
Bentley... for me. The rolls still features too much BMW (and I am a huge BMW fan) I just want a bit more Brit in it. The Bentley is VW I can here some of you complaining... BUT the character of Bentley still shines through for me... where as the Rolls still has too much BMW poking out for my interest. All of the HVAC and stereo controls as well as the steering wheel while not directly out of a BMW... are very BMW-esque.
That steering wheel on the Bentley remembers me some cheap GM car..dunno which one but it looks exactly the same with only added buttons. I like the ghost, not a fan of the Arnage rear. Love the Phantom. Nothing says "Presence" more than a Phantom. Maybe a Brookland...
To me the Phantom is to "shouty" its like a lambo vs an aston. Its a bit too bold now-a-days. I don't think of this of previous Rollers, and I do think this is primarily the reason why Rolls has created the Ghost. I think they saw the writing on the wall with the Phantom. Don't get me wrong, the Phantom is here to stay, but its not going to sell like it has in the "bubble" years
I agree with you on the Phantom, I think it's ugly. Keep in mind, if you're ordering a new RR or Bentley, you can order interior specifications as you like i.e. type of wood, how much wood such as door panels, interior colours and combinations etc. and rear windscreen design. Also, you can order non-RR and Bentley body colours. When you order a new RR or Bentley, all it takes is money to customize the car to your liking!
Aren't those two aforementioned models in different market segments, therefore different price strata? I am not in the know w/ their positions on the totem-pole. . . Regarding ~$300k+ ultra-lux' sedans, I thought the forthcoming Bentley Mulsanne was a more upscale replacement to the aged yet classy Arnage, and meant to compete against the Rolls Royce Phantom by offering a more sporting experience. And the forthcoming Rolls Royce Ghost was supposed to be a more opulent alternative to the ~$200k+ Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Is there any word on the down-market Maybach that was inspired & based on the MB CLS?
Phantom has such amazing presence. Bentleys are plentiful in my area and don't really even get that much notice anymore...and they blend in too well with other modern cars.
CGTs are VWs... tug on the door handle of the CGT and tug on the handle of an arnage... that will tell you which is a bentley
