Thanks guys! I'm hoping to move a few cars in this week to see how it looks until the workers come back in January. So, we hope to see tile grouting, ceiling lights, and garage doors completed in the next 2 or 3 days.

In January we'll install the wall tiles, stain the ceiling beams, install the garage door motors, Bendpak lifts, high-pressure air and compressor, oak cabinets and paneled doors, and wrought-iron railings for the loft. Furniture, chandeliers, art and wall sconces will probably arrive late January or February.

Hi everyone, new to the FerrariChat family but been doing alot of reading about dream garages and some of the remodels I have seen take place on here. I have a new home, 8200sq ft with a 2car garage attached with a single double door that pulls out to the side of the home. The home is all untumbled marble stone and white brick... The garage is probably 25x20ft, all bare. I am looking for ideas to shape it up right. Its being used for storage and odds and ends now but I am giving it all the boot to make the Fcars cozy, I was thinking track lighting because there are 16 foot ceilings. Also considered a lift or side by side lift to increase space. I will post photos soon so you have a better idea, but I'd love your feedback. I have a 14 car detached garage on another property I have where I store the cars and only bring to my home what I can keep in the driveway outside (its a northeast december) or squeezed among the miscelaneaous in the garage....

The photos below are from the outside of the gate looking in, the fresh new driveway, the photo with the yellow 360 Spyder is the inside of the garage as of now, gives an idea of depth and width of space we are talking about, and the last photo shows you the cars that just sit outside when its not snowing....the photo with the Giallo 360 coupe and Mas QP are the side of the house where the garage is, it would be on the right hand side in the photo that opens parallel to the property perimeter wall. Not much space to pull out and pivot the cars, thinking a turntable maybe? Thanks in advance and happy to be apart of the forum!

    Bill,

Congratulations on the progress, it looks great. The high ceiling and flooring go very well together, and lighting on the car makes it really pop. I am looking forward to seeing the continuing progress and seeing it in person (hopefully soon, after an upcoming run :)).

Should Global Warming cause a new Ice Age you may want to install the system we use to keep out Garage Entrance Snow Free...

    Happy New Year!

    brilliant idea, Jim!

what are the specs on that? amount of energy used?

at what point do you need to plow/shovel before it can be useful? or if you leave it on long enough will it melt any depth of ice/snow?

We use it for the sidewalks so that they're clear. There's an automatic system that senses snow and turns it on. In no time the sidewalks will be totally clear no matter how much snow. Hooked up to main boiler which is very efficient. Energy use isn't too bad.

I'm curious if gypsum lightweight concrete, as opposed to traditional concrete, was used?

If not, do they install the pipes in just regular cement? How does it work?

It's the same system as the one in our floor. The Cement is high grade to be able to have a Transporter Back into the shop.

In CA, if we can only make our Garage Entrance Rat Free...

Have a great New Year Jim!

To the best of my knowledge the only reason to use lightweight gypsum concrete (Gypcrete) is if you need the light weight, as in an upstairs subfloor application. Otherwise regular concrete is cheaper and can be mixed to whatever strength you need.

If you do something like this I would make sure that the fluid you pipe through it has some sort of anti-freeze added for obvious reasons.
    Jim, do you do this?

    Here we use cats. :)
