Recently had the entire interior redone on my 85 QV and I'm super pleased with the result. I shopped the job pretty thoroughly and got some great advice from Bullfighter before taking the plunge. Jon had his 328 done at Symbolic Motors and after getting quotes and deciding on the options that's where I ended up. Symbolic's Parts and Service Director Bill Pierson was a great help in picking the leather from dye lot samples, organizing some minor mechanical issues, and generally keeping the work on track. At Symbolic they don't use seat kits, door kits, carpet kits, etc. Everything is cut and sewed from raw materials which I think is absolutely the way to go if you can. Their interior guy, Thomas, is absolutely a master craftsman and he did a lot of cleanup of fittings and hardware at no additional charge.

As you can see, I had the "parcel shelf" and targa top done to match the seats and also did a "radio delete". The stereo that came with the car 10+ years ago was out of date when I bought it and I never listened to it, much preferring the song of the engine. Eliminating the stereo and speakers gives, IMHO the cabin a clean look but it could, of course, be redone if needed. Not likely to happen as I plan on keeping this car forever!

That's exactly what I had wanted to do to my 308, which I've sold a couple of years ago.
Looks great, I never liked the fabric, much easier to clean the leather. They shold've left the factory this way.

I am in love! I have coveted the 328 but after seeing your interior with the added leather and classic 308 levers...

very nice!! Should be proud indeed!

probably costed an arm and a leg but that pain is only temporary. Living with a bad job however would have caused pain every drive!

I love the new interior. I purchased a euro "85 QV this fall with brand new seats but none of the rest of the interior restored. With the new seats I've been trying to figure out what to do to the rest of the interior. I was thinking of going all original, BUT, after seeing yours I'm thinking of something similar. Did you consider changing the dash into something with less reflection?, Maybe a mouse fur. I get a bad reflection off the vinyl, somewhat dangerous actually in the wrong light conditions. Congrats on a beauty, Brian

Looks great. The dash and arm rests look like leather. Did you switch over to all leather or is it still vinyl?

Just curious, were they able to recreate the cavllino on the headrests ? I saw a interior that was redone from a kit and they were larger and raised instead of the original look

If they got the leather from GAHH they were probably replicated accurately.

I want to do the radio delete panel on my dash as well, and I see that you've left out the speaker openings on the door panels, did you keep the antenna? I thought about eliminating my antenna when the body work was done, but I've never seen a 308 without one. Your interior looks spectacular, and I hope to have mine looking that sweet by Spring. Ciao, Dino

Wow! Thanks for the positive responses!

TAZIO42, BRIAN: The dash and armrests are still vynil which I got from GAHH. I had originally bought a yard of it as the instrument binnacle was cracked badly and I figured I would fix it myself. The material has a really nice grain to it and is slightly more of a matte finish so I think the reflection problem will not be as bad.
steve0826: I'll be happy to share the cost info with you or anyone else that's curious. You can e-mail me at: [email protected]
sparta49: As far as I know, the horsie embossed in the headrest is not original to the 308. Can't say for sure as I'm not a historian and also not an originality type. I know Bullfighter paid extra when his 328 was done to get the embossing but I think it came stock on later cars (348, 355?)
Dino 246gt: I kept the antenna - I didn't really have a well thought out plan for this, it was only when Symbolic pointed out how ancient the stereo was that I knew that I would have to spend much more to get a decent system or ditch it. Easy decision!

I am an originality type, and I had them order the headrests only from GAHH pre-made, because GAHH embosses the horsies. The balance of my interior was cut and stitched as yours was from a roll of leather.

I'm not sure if 308s all had the embossed headrests, but the 328s all did.
