Danica's comment about it....."Well I can finally say I have really run a stock car and that I enjoyed it even more that I thought I would! This is going to be a fun year!"

Danica to NASCAR has the Charlotte media buzzing. Never
in the history of racing as such an innocuous test received
    such wall-to-wall coverage.

    The SpeedTV site offers what amounts to lap by lap synoposis;
could a two hour documentary covering the test be far behind?
Dispatch Dave Despain and the Enterainment Tonight crew!

Deserved or not, the blathering media attention on this test
starts to suggest Danica is becoming bigger than the sport
    itself.

This didn't work out very well for Senna who thought
of himself as the demigod of F-1 and, oh let's see, anyone
else in the headlines these days who put thier marketing
    prowess above their sport.

Of course, NASCAR put "show" above sport years ago and
no one knows that better than Danica's team co-owner Dale
Earnhardt, Jr. who remains their poster boy despite not
winning with a team that has scored four consecutive championships
and finished (what?) 1-2-4 this year?

All that will remain is the hype which is all NASCAR is good
    at anyway...

Pity this prodigious talent/scorching hot babe spurned F1. No doubt she would have shown the lads how it's done.

    Lingerie racing, anyone?

That will last until her first six DNF's and finishing no better than 15th. We heard that Montoya was going to change Nascar. Nascar changed Montoya.

There is no question that a lot of women follow Nascar. That's why you see sponsors from brands like Tide. But, they don't like losers or posers or rich spoiled Yankees. If she comes across like just a PR stunt, she's toast. Nascar fans love winners, even bad ones.

after her iniial session she was interviewed by robin miller. he asked how she felt about the speed and her reply was in essence: the speed was no big deal as she was used to going so much faster.

it sounded typically arrogant (and soundedas a knock on circle track taxis) and upon realizing how it may have ounded...she quickly said she would not have wanted to go ay faster either.

she will need a full education on how to act and what to say to apease the france family!

She's not the first one to say that and some pros have pointed out that it is easier to slow down than speed up. But this was at Daytona and stock cars can go much faster there if power wasn't restricted. With good tires, a driver can go all the way around with the right foot planted. But, stock cars handle like crap compared to Indy cars. We'll see how it goes when she has to brake for turns.

you missed my point. i was pointing out that her lack of humility reardless of how easy it is to flatfoot around the big banks was noticed. she would do well not to act as if this nascar stuff is easy or she will get a few quick lessons as to why it is not!

OTOH, it might be more fun for her to banged up after being arrogant. The lessons will certainly come. We'll see how long she can hack it. In the meantime, ratings will go through the roof!

I love the way one minute you guys are saying she lacks the confidence to run at the front in IRL, and that to be successful and win in motor racing you have to have an "I'm better than the rest!" attitiude , then as soon as she shows even the slightest bit of confidence it's: "Woah!, she'd better wind her neck back in and learn some humility!".

From what I've read, all she's basically said is that she got comfortable with the car alot faster than she thought she would, but still needs to learn a bit more about running close to other cars.
I didn't read anywhere where she said; "This NASCAR is a piece of p*ss to drive!, I'm gonna kick some butt and win it all next year!", like some people seem to have read.

She finished 14th out of 60 runners in the end, was 5th quickest in the Sunday afternoon speed test, didn't put it in the wall and impressed her crew with the feedback she was able to give them. I don't see that as too bad, first time out.

    As for:
Montoya came into F1 and was going to change it completely according to all the stories. He was going to kick Schumachers arse at every race.
The trouble was, he spent so much time trying to prove himself to Schumacher, alot of the time he forgot about the race!. (see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzefR6xDmSI
The 2001 Austrian GP. Whilst trying to stop Schumacher overtaking, he completely missed his braking point and took them both off track needlessly).
