    Jim- How cold? Just curious because I drive my old F1 system at 20 deg F all the time with no problems. Does start in an unheated garage, though.

    The car is kept in a heated and humidity controlled garage but last night was left out in the cold (12F) for several hours when this glitch occurred.

    I've notified Alfa and will report.

    Any Thoughts?

    No issues this morning after warm garaging. Alfa things it may be a viscosity issue with the cold fluid and is investigating.

    TF 1055 SHELL is issued to the newer 599's and is supposed to address the cold shifting. Also put out in a bulletin for the older 599/612.

    Thanks.

    Passed this information to Dealer.

    You'd think they'd know about this.

    Redline's gear oil can certainly give great cold weather performance in older Ferraris...

    Answer from the Homeland:

    {Basically they are saying that when the engine control module detects freezing temperatures and then detects wheel spin the car will stay in 2nd gear and will not go over 2500 rpm.}

    "Because there is a strategy when you are on the ice or when there is a input from the temp sensor where signal possible ice or if the ABS see different speed from the four wheels.

    When the strategy is active work this way:

    The car take off in second gear and engage until 4th gear! And doesn’t go over 2500rpm.

    Thank you,"

    That's not a bad strategy. Drifting on ice out on my track this past week I noticed that it was during gear changes where my car most wanted to lose control.
