I searched and didn't find anything related to this, but I might have just not found it. Anyway, I am in the middle of watching "From The Earth To The Moon" with my wife, for the first time. Last night was episode 7 about the Apollo 12 mission. They showed the matching '69 Corvette's that Bean, Conrad, and Gordon drove. SO after it was over, I did a little searching and found this pic, taken 40 years ago today.

And here is an excerpt talking about what is believed to be the only remaining Vette out of the original three.

    More pics of them.

Amazing story! Is there any record of what happened to the other 2 Vettes? It's a crime that these weren't all grabbed by a collector and stored away. Those are historic cars, that captured the essence of the space program, and the heroes who piloted us all to the moon.

It's disappointing that the Vette program was killed because of "public complaints". Unbelievable how petty some people can be.

Reminds me of Tom Wolff docu novel on the original Mercury Astronauts...

Every one had a Corvette of the day. Every one shall we say "made full advantage of the social opportunities".

Every one except John Glenn. Glenn drove a Hillman Minx, and lectured them (to much grumbling) about "keeping it zipped up for the good of the program".

    Thank you for those links.

Grissom's car would be worth more than Bean's because 1) it's a mid year - 67's are worth the most 2) it's a big block tri carb 435hp car 3) it's a vert and 4) Grissom died and that gives it some macabre value unfortunately.

I would love to have the Bean car as well, but the 390 hp single carb was the weakest of the 427 cars.

When it comes to big block mid years, the coupes are usually more desired.

    I know by me. :)

I think it's the roof design too.

Two years ago when I was as Bloomington Gold I'd say on average the mid year coupes were 10% higher then the 'verts. There are exceptions of course. I'd LOVE a '67 427/435 coupe. 4-speed, black with a white stinger. But that would be at least 100K.

A big block convertible would twist like a soft pretzel as you lifted the front tires off the ground....LOL!

IIRC the Grissolm '67 has a few issues that keep its value down compared to other 435hp '67s, notably a restamp block and the trim tag specifying an original color different to the red it now wears. I think it was Lynndale Blue...

Thanks for the heads up and sorry about that. I have a pop-up blocker and a lot of other stuff, which is why I didn't see that. I reported it to the mods using that report-post feature on the top right of my post. Sorry everyone, hopefully there isn't much delay til a moderator gets to that.

My guess was that you weren't aware of it.

Oddly, I have a pop-up blocker and etc and it still got through, but only twice (I had to make sure I wasn't seeing things ;) ). Clear the cache and they come back again.

I just saw this car the other day, I was in Cape Canaveral for a VIP Nasa tour with some family members.
