That's nice that you have a clearance and are using it in an attempt to prove yourself some kind of internet expert, what relevance it really even has to the discussion I do not know. What I will say is God help you if lose TS and wait 24 hours to report it. As for the rest of it.... Your first example is from another unrelated web site. Some poor SOB who's life apparently consisted of a fake identity he had constructed online...... Destroyed..... Well cry me a F'ing river. You know there are poor kids in Africa who don't even have an internet to try and impress people on. You then go on to condemn LV Eric as someone who took advantage of people through a legal loophole. But it's not really his fault, its because some politician practically made him do it so he must be an alright guy cause he has all those neat cars. Nicely wrapped up with a vague quote that you attribute to Robin Williams. Another vague story about a user who's name you admit that you don't even take the time to even positively identify. You talk about his passion and enthusiasm for cars..... Isn't that sweet. You wanna see someone with a passion for cars? Meet Carbon. That slappy bastard has a giant damn horse tattooed on his chest. You conclude with the statement that you couldn't really be bothered to find out if "Iceman" has left the board or not. Would I want someone to make critical posts after I make a series of rambling complaints that are, at best, marginally supported? Sure I would. This board is at it's best when people think about what the post, backing up what they say with facts and evidence.
(Big Tex Stylin'!) The point is, saying "we" need to bring in a new era of worldwide peace and harmony is nice in a beauty pageant interview, but ignores reality. If anything, this board is tame and remarkably adult in tone relative to most. (un?)Fortunately, there's this (diminishing) tradition of open discussion and comment in the US that has both positive and negative consequences. I return again to the concept of the ignore tag, and the peace of mind that would bring. Happy Holidays!
As I said earlier, I have been up for quite some time and not thinking as clearly as I was previously. Be kind to your elders! As for the I'm old on the internet part of my post, at least I know there is one internet (not internets) that is made up of multiple networks. LOL You should know that beings it is in your line of work! I pulled it out because I went back, reread it for the 4th time and saw it was just not posted correctly and knew I needed to change it. Yes, I know about the notorious flamewar on Usenet. Actually, I posted on it a LONG time ago...back when I had to outwit dinosaurs on my way to the waterhole. You won't find my post on there, or if you do, you won't connect it to me because I have changed usernames, email addresses and mentally since then.
The first point was that I was trying to point out the severity of losing PII based upon the way the Federal Government's reporting requirements upon it's loss. Some on here may wonder if I was releasing "classified" information by putting out the reporting requirements and was trying to be careful. I was also pointing out that the person in question about the loss of the laptop just wanted to get the hard drive back (at a minimum) and I could sympathize with him. The second one was not a condemnation. It was intended to say that while I didn't agree with his business practices, it was not illegal. I felt that the way that topic has been handled recently was completely uncalled for and should not happen. I was further trying to put across if you feel that his doing business like that was wrong then you should turn to your politicians to criticize and not him. Sorry that didn't come out clearly. The third item is about Icemanbops. I couldn't recall his name at that time. I do not know if he has finally completely quit, but knew that he hasn't had any activity since 09-17-2009. I can not know if he will be back or not. Please forgive me for not knowing his name right off the top of my head nor knowing when he had his last activity. I had to actually go look it up just now. I have not spoken to him so I do not know his intentions, however it is pretty obvious he is not posting or logging in at this time. The facts speak for themselves. You can try to spin things all you want, but that doesn't change the truth. Edit: The first person was not on this site. I freely admit that. I am just saying we (the users of the internet) need to be more responsible for what we say/do on here.
I agree with Chas...why is this a sticky ? 99% of all threads of FChat are fun and respectful. Thats pretty good in my opinion. This is the least childlike, trollish forum I have ever seen. I am all for calling out liars and such. The NSX guy got everything he deserved. LVEric is getting what he deserves...just like MDM However, I agree that InnovativeThinker did not deserve to have people crawl up his arse over the laptop incident. I think some guys went overboard on that. I was surprised a Mod didnt shut that one down As for ICEMAN, he DOES need a thicker skin. I knew he owned the cars he spoke of but some people didnt, so they *rightfully* asked for some pics. Iceman got offended and left. If you want to go around a free public forum talking about your multi-million dollar car collection be prepared to prove it ALL THE TIME. The last thing I want to see this forum do is lose its edge and become politically correct.
Dude...absolutely not. We dont have to agree on everything. Im also glad you werent offended by my rebuttals. There is nothing wrong with a heated debate between friends as long as it doesnt get into personal insults and such.

So, if someone didn't agree with your post on here, it is ok for them to come over to your house, place of work or give you harassing phone calls? If so, I will willingly show up on your life, attack you, etc. (I am not really going to do that; it is just an example.) Further, I think we can all agree there is overdoing things. An example for me is having my Aunt come over and try to give me constructive criticism, like spending 8 hours telling me how to fold my underwear, socks, etc. Thinker didn't deserve what he got. FAR from it. We agree there completely. Icemanbop didn't need a thicker skin. If Napolis and such say he is legit, it should be more than enough for us to believe him. Those people are beyond reproach. As for his getting offended and leaving, I can see why. He is a very successful man, loves to share his experiences and doesn't need to spend his valuable time putting up with the BS. He also did get pics of his cars posted, just not immediately like some people wanted. Sometimes when someone is busy and their time is valuable, it takes awhile to get things done. Patience is a virtue, you know. I just made this thread because over the last few days I have seen posts on all 3 off these stories and all of them have been negative in nature in one way or another, with 2 of them on this site alone. Enough is enough and it is time to remind people of what should be done and what shouldn't be said.

(On a small soapbox...) Someone else here said it best, IMO- Don't post something about/to someone which you wouldn't say to their face. On another board I post on, a nice gent posted photos and information about his vintage prewar Italian sports car. Another gent (now perma-banned on that board, and who received a long month ban here...) took it upon himself to lambast the first gent for having a fradulant car, with his (the second gent's) opinion as the only evidence, and in a less than respectful fashion IMO. Said first gent and his gorgeous car disappeared from the board, probably for ever, and the rest of us are the lesser for it. We are fortunate to have Napolis, Marcel, 410SA, etc. post here. I'm hoping that Jon Shirley and others decided to share their passion with us as well. IMO, we can be honest with each other...but respectfully so. If you can't do so, use a PM. Sorry for my rant.
Disagreeing with my posts and catching me outright lying about things and then trying to cover with more lies are two very different things. If I say I have a Veyron and someone catches me lying then i deserve everything that comes down upon me. Thats how you teach liars. I bet those guys never lie again ! Icemanbops is a big baby. Yes he is a successful man. Yes he owns some great cars. That doesnt mean he walks on water and it doesnt give him the right to dismiss people who ask for proof or get his panties in a bunch. Jim (Napolis) backing him up is meaningless to people who dont know who Jim is ! And then there is the added issue of people not believing that Jim G, a very well known and successful individual, is goofing around on this public forum. Its hard for a lot of people to believe. I know that many of my friends think Im full of crap when I mention some of the people i get to associate with here...they say 'yeah thats who they say they are'. As far as I know new members arent handed a *survival manual* pointing out who is who on this forum. They have to learn through experience. Also, every public forum is going to have some trolls. There are always going to be people who are here just to screw around. If you, or Iceman, or anyone else cant handle that then...um...subscribe.
