How do you blindfold a jet? :D
No, he had two custom-made and they were built inside out. His jet was built by VW as well, it's their first one, ever, and it's called a VW Jet-ta. Neat, huh?
I have to add to Mark. You must not work with the Military. Our requirement for even the suspected loss of TS information is "as soon as suspected," i.e., right now. If you have a different guideline my information officer in the j2 would like to see it.
There are a number of conflicting factors in play here and I think you need to consider them all. First, this is the internet and as a general rule, you shouldn't do or say anything that you're not willing to have publicized. You're out in public, not in your home, even if that's where you're posting. Once something gets out there, you lose any effective control; people who behave fraudulently are being egotistical in thinking they can control the outcomes. Second, does the internet hound people in the physical world for behaving badly on the internet? I tend to think these are the behaviors of individuals, not the internet. If a Medal of Honor winner gets into a fight with their condo board that's publicized on the internet and the condo board receives threats by mail and phone, is the internet responsible or are the people that went out of their way to behave improperly responsible? In any large group, you're going to get a distribution of indolent to extreme behaviors and sadly even 1% will leave a large number of people that will behave improperly, either accusing someone of fraud on the site too readily or taking physical world action when they shouldn't. The site can do something in the former case, but not the latter. Third, does it matter if someone commits a fraud on the internet? Ask the Madoff victims if they would have preferred if someone dug deeper into his financials. Obviously we're not out to save the world from all fraud, but if fraud comes to visit the site, then there is a reasonable interest in exposing it. The harm in a false positive (a legitimate person falsely accused of fraud) is that the victim leaves the site or is unjustly hounded; the harm in a false negative (a fraud allowed to persist in their fraud) is that a user is allowed to promulgate incorrect information or establishes a persona that others rely on in the course of making some significant financial decisions. The false positives tend to be very visible, but the recourse is that the forum is still there for the falsely accused to be allowed a defense if they choose. The false negatives are less visible, but I argue is estimable from the number of people that rely on the site as informative or authoritative. Too many of either type and the site is worse off.
This is the best response to this thread and I can't think of anything better to say. I always try to keep to the rule of only type what you would say to someone's face. Then again, some people think I have a big mouth...
Firstly, you're an idiot. Secondly, prepare to lose that clearance if your identity is at all compromised here. Thirdly, you say seeing an exotic is rare???? WTF? Front royal is not that far from DC, Tysons Corner, and other exotic hot spots. A ferrari everyday? No, but 911's galore. Hell, there is a Porsche dealership a stones throw from my apartment in Arlington.
The problem with a "kinder gentler" Fchat would be the actual potential for a lier or a scammer to cause real world damage. Take this thread for example: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=217668 In the end, this guy could have cause damage to the dealership if a buyer thought they were selling a car someone across the country owned. Or this thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=209677&highlight=otaku What if someone took the time to set up a ride for him? What a waste of time and energy when he did not show up...! But better still, this thread, where real money could have been lost if not for the FChat Police and serious skepticism. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239913&highlight=scooby And now these two threads look to pick up where MDM left off: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=139232210&posted=1#post139232210
Doc, I trust you have your deck of cards at the ready? I'm fairly appalled at the whining in this thread.
Can you post up or send me a link to your information site or security site saying the loss of TS equipment or data need not be reported for 24 hours? Seriously we would love to see it.
Guys, this tendency to turn a thread and making it about the poster rather than the discussion topic is an aspect of what he's commenting on. How about getting back to the topic? Actually, more than two hints .
Well, certainly, Doc - those are givens. The "appalled" issue remains; when a person who does not warrant such criticism is chastised and subjected to undue scrutiny.
Sorry I was allowed to get driven off topic. It was my own thread and I let myself and it get hijacked. I still feel that this issue is something important that everyone should look into and realize it is wrong.
okay, I'm still a bit perplexed by this thread, but I'll ask a legit question for a change what makes it "wrong" to call people to tell the truth? I agree that occasionally (and I do mean occasionally) there is a bit of bandwagon-ism on this board, particularly when we get someone's back to the wall. But for the most part, Fchatters are very polite and respectful to those deserving it. Those who come here to be something they are not, or jerk people around, get dismissed quickly. And as DrS points out, our lack of mercy on those people helps keep this board from the constant BS that plagues most other boards. Additionally, this board is a community (much more than 99% of the car boards out there) and like any community-be it a chat room, school, business, club, etc-there will be a certain amount of hazing for the new guys. It happened to me, I've dished some out, that's just the way society works. So I'm a bit confused as to why this thread exists, or became a sticky, and I'm really confused how what we are doing (i.e. defending our little e-community from the BS artists of the world) is "wrong".
