The reaction of the person so "attacked" is the biggest part. I am willing to bet that should Napolis go on a strange forum and say, here is my super car, and some one says prove it, 50 photos would come up. The best way to end all doubt is.... to end all doubt!

Now then a person with a much thinner skin and a much over inflated sense of self worth would react like that other guy did, "How DARE you doubt me?!!?!?" Even with the threads above as evidence, a hot head is still a hot head. Anyone that thinks they just need to be instantly believed almost certainly doubts every thing he is told himself. And is likely not a very nice person.

I get it all the time at my other forums. "You got a Ferrari? Prove it."

"Ok, here." And the issue is done.

If that happens, I know of ~30 people that would ask to see a picture of an engine number stamping...

The ~30 people would proactivly ask for engine number stampings before the owner made any claim as to the car's provenance?

Personally, if I had a dog in the fight (or was sufficiently curious) I'd either wait for the owner to claim originality or respectfully inquire as to the supporting documentation as and when the car came up for discussion.

Otherwise, I'd ask via a PM.

lotta things are play, I think...

It's easy for people to talk big on the internet, but that cuts both ways. Yes, some people are maybe a bit harsh on their retorts to BS or arguments, but some people are too quick to start arguments in the first place.

Also, I think some people take things very personally or maybe too seriously. I was talking to someone on here not too long ago and I commented that I don't recall anything I have posted in all the years I have been here. There are a few memorable threads, but even people I maybe have gotten into arguments with just a week or so ago, I don't remember. I can't even tell you what I posted yesterday or who said what yesterday. There are maybe one or two people I can say I dislike on here and have a tendency to maybe be harsher with, but even with those people it is never anything beyond thinking their online persona is a chump, never anything to do with them as a person. I guess I'm like an internet goldfish... after the post is made, it's pretty much forgotten.

After all, we don't see what a person looks like, or what job they do, or how they dress or if they do charity work or any of that. So judging on the basis of their posts would be foolish.

I've been on the internet for quite a few years now, I think I first started with a dial-up ISP before Mozilla even supported images. I think people who are newer to the internet tend to take longer to get the feel of things and perhaps try (sometimes erroneously) to relate it to a real life scenario, like being in a bar or hanging out at a party, and in that context it would be rude to say many of the things that people write. But once you get used to the fact that everyone on the internet is a 6' young muscular self-made rich guy with more exotic cars and women than he can shake a stick at, it gets easier to handle the BS :)

    Army Regualtion 380-5.

Para: 10–2. Reaction to discovery of incident
    a. Anyone finding classified material out of proper control, will take custody of and safeguard the material, if possible, and immediately notify the appropriate security authorities. In all cases, the individual’s immediate supervisor is to be notified.

    b. Any person who becomes aware of the possible loss or compromise of classified information will immediately report it to the commander, the command security manager, or other official the commander may direct, for instance, a department head or office chief if indicated by the command security manual or other command directive. If the person believes that the commander, security manager, or other official designated to receive such reports may have been involved in the incident, the person making the discovery will report it to the security authorities at the next higher level of command or supervision.

    Emphasis mine

It treats all reportable CLASSIFIED ANYTHINGS incidents as "IMMEDIATE." The level of CLASSIFICATION (C, S, or TS) of the item involved is omitted as it is irrelevant.

Yes, it is an ARMY REG, but it is the same across the Services (DOD-Wide) to the best of my knowledge AND US GOVT-wide, again to the best of my knowledge.

The Reg further says there ARE DIFFERENCES in Granting Clearances and ACCESS to DOE and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) personnel vice DoD (i.e. a "Q" does not qualify a person from one agency to view the same material as a "Q" Holder from another (Need-to-Know, not withstanding) agency but I do have to wonder IF reporting requirements are different. Especially TS.

The most I could find in a bit of searching came from DoE REG:

" DOE O 471.4, Incidents of Security Concern

    3. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.

    a. 24-hour Determination/Categorization Period. When an incident is suspected to have occurred, the facility where the incident occurred has 24 hours to examine and document all pertinent facts and circumstances to determine whether an incident has occurred. (See Figure 1, Incidents of Security Concern.) During this period, the suspected incident must be categorized by an IMI number. If it is determined that an incident of security concern did not occur, no further action is required.

    b. Initial Incident Reporting. Incidents of security concern initial reports for IMI-1,
IMI-2, and IMI-3 (as well as those for IMI-4 involving foreign nationals, per paragraph 3.d. below) will be sent to the DOE HQ Operations Center (OC) using DOE F 471.1, “Security Incident Notification Report,” in accordance with locally developed procedures approved by the responsible element. Initial security incident reports will be forwarded based on the following criteria.

    (1) Within 1 hour following categorization for security incidents determined to be IMI-1 (see Table 1), the originating site/facility will transmit a DOE F 471.1 to the DOE HQ OC. If a verbal notification of the incident is made to the DOE HQ OC, a follow-up transmission of the DOE F 471.1 to the DOE HQ OC must be made.

    (2) Within 8 hours following categorization of security incidents determined to be IMI-2/IMI-3 (see Tables 2 and 3), the originating site will transmit a DOE F 471.1 to the DOE HQ OC. If a verbal notification of the incident is made to the DOE HQ OC, a follow-up transmission of the DOE F 471.1 to the DOE HQ OC must be made." END OF QUOTE.

The mentioned Tables make it pretty clear to me that a "TS" or "S" incident are reported as described in b.(1) above. I read "Within 1 Hour..." to be the same as DoD "IMMEDIATE."

The "24hrs" bit the poster who origionally mentioned this comes from the time period when the initial investigation must be completed and forwarded, NOT from when discovered, IAW this manual. BIG DIFFERENCE IMHO.

I must say "Hmmmmmmmmm?" on this one. Sorry.

    Can you post to the contrary on what I have found. . . . P L E A S E ?
