I have a question to all the 348/355 brotherhood great experts out there ! If your budget is limited and you can only afford just one upgrade for now .... Would you replace the cats with High Flow ones or the muffler ? Which choice of the two will give a better throttle response ?
test pipes and K&N filter ... BUT for the price of most exhaust systems only , you can buy hi flows and exhaust from Gothspeed $2500 or buy Nuovalari Engineering exhaust for $1200
Id get an exhaust. That will give you more performance and better throttle response than just fitting test pipes.
I was thinking about Gothspeed exhaust system ...... but why on the Hyper Flows comments, they say you get more throttle response ? Isn't that true then ?
In a nutshell. +1 I just put a Nouvalari exhaust on. Fallen in love again. Cannot stop driving it. Short sound clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6paYcyDia4
it sounds awesome . More throatier then mi X-ost. Just as a teaser list the price. I was amazed as to reasonably priced these are...
A couple of pics from when I installed it. The smaller of the two is the new exhaust. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That sounds mighty fine mate Surly there must be companies of Grenadiers that want to shoot you in the wee hours of the mornings when you start her up
My statements come from what I have read over the years, 10 years of racing my converted 348 racecar, and years of racing a Z06 vette, and limited drag racing as a 20y/o. You can tune an engine for max power/torque with open headers and you can't beat those numbers with any additional exhaust system. Exhausts do not make power. So they are a neccessary evil you try an minimize. But you have to have an exhaust system even in racing because of rules like noise or on street like pollution control. So It's headers first, remove restriction 2nd ie better flowing cats, exhaust last. Too big of pipes slow exh gas velocity down and create a restriction just as bad as too small a pipe with high velocity. Pipe size is a balance too. Exhaust fall mostly into reflectors and absorbers. Absorbers (like old school glasspack) tend to maintain flow and have the least impact but attenuate noise least. The 348 has a unique and easy engine bay config for exh mods. I think one of the cheapest best systems you can run on a 348 is either no cats and exhaust or hyperflow cats and exhaust. My favorite is no cats and two racemuffs or two of these and two hyperflows on a streetcar: http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1021_1033_1054&products_id=290 The setup is simple, cats on headers, straight pipe to mufflers done! Other exh may "sound" cool but nothing matches the free flow, LIGHT design that gets heat out of your engine bay. A cool running engine is a better running engine, a light car is a faster car and these are light at the right spot on the car too. Crossovers are nice but in pipes this short I see no reason to add the extra crossover weight and don't see any performance gain. I happen to love these cats more than hyperflows and you will love the price: http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/Shop-by-Brand/Vibrant-Performance-Catalytic-Converters/Metal-Core-High-Flow-Catalytic-Converter I can weld so this whole set-up with cats costs me about $400 bucks. I don't think you can beat that performance, lightweight, simplicity, engine bay cooling and EPA compliance for 400 bucks.
thanks Phil, a friend of mine buy one and it was $1300 which great compare all other exhausts out there ...if I was keeping mi car I would buy one
The biggest performance boost you can give either a F348 or an F355 is to send the driver and car to a road race track for lessons. For the price of an exhaust, one can get about 5-7 track weekends and lessons and be a significantly better, faster driver.
LOL I knew it was only a matter of time before some one mentioned that old line, very surprised it took 2 days
