    Buemi's betting quota is 201 to 1.

If we can get 4 Ferrari powered cars in front of MS, that'd be a triumph already.

For WDC, so your scenario could still happen.

    Happy Birthday!

Another one of those poor bastards who only gets a X-mas gift and people say "well, it is a big one, it counts for both occasions". And when you unpack it, turns out to be a sweater with some hideous stripes...

That doesn't make any sense at all - for 2 reasons.

1.....He would have known the car was poor before agreeing to replace massa.................Why go through all that trouble of agreeing to replace massa, doing an F2007 test, do all the karting....
MAybe the more likely explanation was 'after doing the F1 test and various karting sessions the neck pain was more than first realised'.

    2. almost everyone noted how depressed he was during the press conference where he had to announce the comeback cancellation. you could see it on his face.

    Thank you very much! :)

Actually, I usually do quite well because everyone goes to the sales to buy Me presents! :D

(And the sweater had a 1970's diamond pattern on the front this year, I kid you not :D)

    Just my opinion 50-50

You may be quite right, the car was poor but until driven just how poor it was he would not know, testing proved it.

The only thing he'll be wiping are the tears when he sees how quick Schumi still is. :)

Well said, i can't agree more. Gone were the days where the drivers just showed up and drove. Now it's the sponsors, PR issues, addresing fans, etc.

Happy New Year to you to Carol! I really hope 2010 will bring more joy to you and your family!

so anyone going to give me credit for my 4 month old post? still want to believe in Shuey 3 races into the season and let me rub more salt into the wound later? ;)

I hope he does better and gets a few podiums and even a win. It has been nice to see him on the track, but much less exciting than I thought it would be. There have been some unexpected exciting things elsewhere on the grid though.

so far it still isn't looking like returning helps his legacy any IMHO.

You get a lot of credit for your foresight.

Thanks for bringing back this post. Another great thread that will assure a fair distribution of the season-end crow.

    1, 2, 4 and 5 are spot on.

#3 doesn't seem to be a factor, but will probably be used as the explanation if there is a premature termination of the 3 year contract ;)

    Give it time. ;)

Actually, I made a bet (for beer) with Andreas that Michael will win one more WDC before he leaves the F1 driver's seat again. I think 2011 or 2012 will be his chances, as those are the years where his feedback will have been put into the development of the car. This year he's driving a car that was developed by Jensen Button and Rubens Barrichello - both of whom knew they were leaving... I didn't expect this year's Mercedes to be stellar.

Also, all the drivers on the grid got to grips with the new aero last year - Schumacher is doing it this year after everyone else is already up to speed. You really need to compare his racing performance to the other guys early last year, and even then give him a little slack for the time off. He'll be brought up to speed, but won't challenge for a title this year in an inferior car.

By the halfway point this season though, I do expect to see him beating Nico Rosberg regularly. What we're seeing at the moment is that Michael is racing well but qualifying relatively poorly - and you can hardly blame him for his wheel nut coming off last race.

I still have faith... if it fails me, you've got plenty of time to get more salt ready. ;) :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Of course! It just goes to show that Ferrari ownership/fandom/involvement -whatever your case may be- does not necessarily translate into reduced capability to think and reason.

I sure as hell don't. But it is nice to see him back. And losing.

As much as I dislike him on the track I think his legacy is cemented. Seven championships is just too much to be explained by anything else but ultimate superiority, of course in the past tense.
