This is good news to F1. Flavio is a great character and F1 needs more people like him, I hope he gets involved again in F1 ASAP. Flavio is very, very good at what he does.

And I'm glad Mosley lived to see this. He did a lot for motor racing during his long career but toward the end he just became a bitter and out of control despot, thanks to the largely useless FIA rubber stamp Council.

It'll be interesting to hear Bernie's comments on how he supported Flavio all along in this mess :)

The problem lies firmly at Porno Max's doorstep, if the FIA under Max had even a modicum of credibility in it's justice system A. It would never have happened in the first place, and B. Even if it had know one would be upset at any judgement/fine whatever meted out by a fair and transparent FIA.

Hopefully Todt will be taking this all on board and I hope he will distance himself further from the nightmare of F1 Mosley.

We see team orders all the time - they aren't illegal. Well, they supposedly are, just like speeding 1mph over the limit is 'illegal'. We can't get all upset over the orders when they go on every season.

So we're left with the safety aspect. I don't see what Piquet did as being substantially worse than Webber intentionally cutting across track and forcing someone off into the grass. In either case, someone could have been killed.

What would warranty permanent exclusion? Any planned action that results in the serious injury or death of a driver, team member, fan, official, etc. Not "which could have resulted..." but which *did* result. Throw a glass bottle out of your car that hits the ground and it's littering. Do the same and it hits someone and kills them and it's a whole lot more serious, even if only an accident. You can only punish outcomes, not potential outcomes.

The outcome was Piquet crashed and Alonso won.

Fine or 2-race ban is appropriate.

I'd exclude Flavio for his willingness to be photographed in a bathing suit.

    There are limits, you know.

If anyone gets to work back in F1 after this apparent overturn it will probably be Pat Symonds.

I think the point is that he was never "tried" for this offense, so it was never proven. You had the word of someone with an axe to grind. If the evidence was so solid, why no hearing?

And the biggest risk in that crash was to PK himself. If it was that crazy he wouldn't have done it. Flavio didn't mash his foot to the mat. He's a big boy, he knew what he was doing.

I think I am the only one who thinks "cheating" is practically a part of motorsport.

Aha nice to see you tapping the keyboard again for a bit a MaXXX bashing..;)

That is it, the main problem with Mosley was, it was always personal with his need to eradicate anyone that spoke out against him fairly or not.

You can bet Todt phone is red hot with Mosley bleating like some crazed raging lunatic, telling him to appeal.

I hope Todt does the right thing and buries this and moves on, the last thing we want is off track drama spoiling it already when the stage is set for some great on track battles.

Todt may feel the need to establish his authority early on in his term and so oppose Flav. If he does it will be a shame and, IMO, the first step down the road to the sort of autocratic leadership we've become used to. How he responds to this may be quite indicative of what his stewardship will be like.

I was so glad to see this.

I can just imagine his face when his life work got ruined months after completion. I bet it was even funnier than the time he got caught with a bunch of nazi hookers in his bedroom.

    Steve,
Don't get me wrong, they can't just drop it. The question is if they pursue the matter with any real ardor or not.

BTW the other shoulder is acting up.

I dunno... he lost his job at Renault. That's a pretty harsh penalty!

Todt can definitely let it go without the appearance of having done nothing, I think. As for Todt, this would be a good chance to separate himself from the Mosley era. If he decides not to pursue Flav further, it will indicate that he isn't just a Max puppet.

    We shall see.

But you and I are both loving the image of Max, red faced and going nuts over all his vendettas being overturned.

All we need is Ron Dennis back in the pits (which already started to happen) and Flav back... then as soon as Howett is seen again, that should be all that's needed for Max to suffer a total meltdown :)

    Yes agreed Dave,

To me the problem stems from a far bigger picture, Flav and co were totally out of order and on a different planet dreaming up the scheme, however it worked!!.

So it makes me wonder why he thought he could even contemplate it, never mind carry it out.

And this is why I place the blame (as per norm) squarely on Mosleys scum doorstep..

And the reason why is because, Mosleys decision not to punish Renault F1 for espionage in 2007 whilst fining Mclaren a insane amount 100 mil!! gave Flav (at the time) that is, the notion he could get away with murder, thats until he started spouting off in FOTA.

Along with result changing this sort of thing is the most outrageous blatant error and miscarriage of FIA justice of all time.

It came to the point I did not want to be so involved with the sport, I hated it with a passion, the more I knew the more I detested it, all because of Mosley.

That is not good news your other shoulder :(, I hope it doesn't spoil your holiday plans.

Believe it or not I'm getting fed up of snow its only use is for skiing not digging vans and cars out...the funny thing is I'm due to fly to Austria to the snow, but it's looking like I won't get there because of it..

LOL well yes a Mosley melt down love it,:D they will have to put restraint's on his rocking chair.

I have a problem, not that I personally care about Flav walking, but what the greater masses feel about it and what signal it sends out to F1 as a whole.

I hope Todt puts it to bed as quicky and smoothly as possible, and distances himself from Max.

We have some great racing and on track battles to look forward to not off track ones..:)

The way Max and Co. handled this affair really queered the pitch. The ruling and punishment were so blatantly personal and are so in need of overturning that it will be difficult not to see Flav emerging the victor and escaping his deserved punishment.

Steve, go on ebay/autotrader/pistonheads and buy a cheapo RWD car near your for something like 500 quid (old bmw 320i/525i will do), get someone to weld up the differential for you and gaffer tape up the handbrake button. Go out for a drive after 21.00...That way you will see how much fun snow can be!
