    I can't believe no one made a comment about the carpet matching the drapes after that line.

    Shamile, I know that there's a certain fondness your ladies have for your Lambo (something about the doors I gather...) but we TR owners need more pictures highlighting your other car too.

    And thanks for the clarification on the Ferrari seals.

    If you notice the cross section of the DX84, it has some "points" across the rounded surface. I wouldn't be surprised if thats a molded linear run of ridges.

    Ya gotta ask yourself......would Jen approve? :D

    Sitting here holding a section of genuine Testa in hand, it looks like DX71 is the closest. The rounded rubber part of the DX71 looks to be a little smaller that original and also the original only has two 'barbs' and they are offsett to each other with the one barb on the outer (Felt) edge being a full 4mm higher at the base of the barb that the one on the tube side.

    I'd like to see some actual pictures of DX71 please Phil.

    DX84 will never do it. The tube section is way too large and when it crushes against the door it will deform too much and cause sealing issues.

    Close, but only a silver star. Still too much difference from the original for a gold star I'm afraid.

    DX 71 does look very close. Did Uzz ever try this sample?


    Robbie, if you don't want to pull your OEM to match it, for fear of tearing the rubber, I can mail you a snip of the old OEM rubber from my TR.

    I think the proportional size is correct but if you look closely, the internal "grab" size is much taller and hence the "round" part is bigger.

    It might fit but would probably "ride" above the seams where it's supposed to sit.

    Phil, can you slip it on next to the OEM like you did before and take a picture?

    ....don't worry, you don't have to provide a Jen....unless your wife is really hot :)

    If she reads this site....just say yes, she is.....but declines to pose. :D

    When I can get this turkey filled belly of mine off the chair and into the garage I will try and measure the height difference of the original against the sample.

    I will also ask my daughter if she wishes to pose for the photo as my wife is camera shy :)

    If all looks well I may get back to Baines the supplier of the samples to see if they can do a "fuzzy" version.

    I installed the weatherstripping I acquired from the UK onto the TR today. I am very pleased.....it looks great, installed easily, formed to the contours of the door opening without a great deal of effort, and grips the door seam like epoxy. And best of all.............the wind noise that has been a part of the driving experience since day one of owning this TR is GONE!! Overall, in one word.......wonderful!!

    The 90* corner was a "trial & error" kinda thing! I Actually cut the felt extrusion back and left the seal part of the trim. I then "shaped" the trim part to mate to each other and then applied a bead of CA glue to join them. Check out the pix of the hidden from veiw portion of the weatherstripping, along with the two different adhesives I have used when doing a project like this. The adhesives are available at any hobby, crafts or art supply store.

    By the way I had to literally use a couple of teflon paddles to pry the new weatherstripping off the door extrusion to take the pix of the inner corner joint.....this weatherstripping grips the door extrusion as if it were ......welded! I am very pleased with the fit and finish. Very glad I layed out the money for the materials, after all is said and done. A worthwhile project that has solved my wind noise problems and also adds a very presentable, clean and well maintained look to the door entries. It's amazing how much of an asthetic impact the weatherstripping makes when you open the door(s). The untrained eye may not know "exactly' what has been done, but like I said it looks neat, clean, and OEM!!

    No Jay, I do not include the glue/adhesive.

    Most OEM replacement seals now recomend to use 'super glue' to join the ends and glue to body work. You may also be able to source a 90 degree soft extrusion that will fit internally for additional support.
