How much is my 348 spider worth?

Of course when I was a teenager I wished my parents would have bought me a cool car (I would have killed for a BMW 330i), but I'm objective enough to realise now that if they had done that, I might not have survived into my 20's.

As for your finances... your gloating style of response leads me to believe you may not have those assets. Most with affluent garages don't tend to respond in that way. Most teenagers pretending to have such assets on the other hand... do.

You did not just "ask what the car was worth". As you yourself brought up the idea of giving the car to an 18 year old, I think most feel it's their duty to point out that this could end tragically. Your flippant attitude when it comes to your daughters safety - and prevailing concern that her driving talent be touted instead - is suggestive that you have no intention of giving this 348 to your daughter.

By the way... why are the pictures in your first post of a car that's clearly in a dealership showroom? When most as asking what a car is worth (when comes time to sell), they generally tend to post recent pictures taken when on the road or from their own driveway/garage to show the current condition.

a cool car is not necessarily a 300bhp rwd sportscar.. just buy her a mini cooper if you want to give her a "cool" car.

OK, I retract my statement of doubts upon your assets.

However, I still question the wisdom (sanity?) in giving a high-maintenance, difficult to drive, 300bhp rear-wheel drive exotic sports car to an 18 year old. Please think carefully about that before you actually do it.

Someone else mentioned a MINI Cooper as a cool car - I agree, I've had a MINI since I was 21. Very easy to drive, to maintain yourself, it's easily personalised, and it's very safe in a crash. I got rear-ended in mine, and let me tell you the MINI is solid. No whiplash for me or my passenger, my car was repaired (new bumper and exhaust) and the car that hit me was totalled.

just keep it somehow . . at the price and "hassle factor" it'll take to sell it,,,,,, in your financial state . . just keep it . . only prob is space

Yea, I apologize to you, I am not looking to argue, I do have someone that is interested in coming to look at the car in a few weeks so I have not mentioned it to my daughter yet. She already has an Audi S4 so I didn't think it would be much different than that. Hopefully it gets sold and it will be a non issue.

I think I could give my daughter a high performance car, and she would respect it. Girls are much more rational than boys and don't feel the need to 'be a man' and try to see how fast the car will go. Assuming you did not get your car collection by inheritance I think the lifetime of effort might also indicate a parent that wants something special for thier child instead of the usual Honda Accord or something (we got our child a CR-V). The 348 is much more tame than a 360 so I think it is fine to give it to his daughter. I would second the recommendation to get some high performance driver's education for her though.

Your 348 wheels are on the wrong side. Common mistake by many a shop.....just thought you should know.

 

Rob, seriously, what do you think when you see the photos of the kids who wrapped themselves around guard rails in the high performance cars their parents bought them? Most of us will and do agree it is a moronic thing to do.

 

Just saw this thread, are the two Rossa cars different vehicles? One w shields one without? Sorry, I'm a tad slow.....

 

Same car, I put the shields on after purchasing it. The one photo is from the dealership I purchased the vehicle from.

 

pics could have been taken at different times...the first pic could be when he first got it and later added the shields, which is the pic in the garage...or vise versa, the first pic with him posing is AFTER he removed the shields

If you give it to your daughter, I'd be much more concered about the guys she is around who will inevitably end up driving it... now that is scary.

My comments were about your child. Guess you won't waste money on brake pads for her either. You can probably make another daughter too, using that logic.

Lots of people give their kids cool cars. Lots of those kids end up injured or dead. Great driving skills don't matter with massive mechanical failures. How many driving schools have you sent her to?

You can do whatever you want. Didn't bash you, but your posts make me think you're narcissistic enough to think so. I just think your child deserves a well-maintained serviced car, and needs to learn importance of same, and how to use things. Obviously you know far better than us, and since you don't seem to appreciate those ideas, doubt you'd pass it on.

Again, good luck to your daughter. She may be given nice cars, but she is extremely disadvantaged needlessly and unknowingly.

Those are auction cars, so I wouldn't use them as a benchmark, because as you can see the range is from $33,000 to $51,000....so that right there should tell you something. If you look at the market, auction excluded, you will not find an $18,000 difference between two 348's that are well maintained.
