Alonso: Schumi's up for the challenge Friday 15th January 2010 - PlanetF1.com Fernando Alonso believes Michael Schumacher will quickly find his feet when he returns to Formula One this season. The seven-time World Champion will race for Mercedes after ending his three-year retirement and Alonso believes his old rival will be competitive from the off. Speaking at Ferrari's annual pre-season winter event in Italy, Alonso said: "I don't think there's going to be a big problem for him, because we are all very competitive drivers. "When you go back to a car after many years the times are the same that you did years ago. "If you have experience and you have won in the past... Michael has been one of the best in Formula One, so I don't think much is going to change if you are 38 or 41. "You are always the same and your competitive instinct is always the same." Alonso, who has 21 race wins to his name, added: "I think 2010 is going to be interesting for the fans. The return of Michael is only good for the sport." The Spanish driver, who is preparing for his first season at Ferrari, believes he will stay with the Italian stable for the remainder of his career. The two-time World Champion signed a three-year contract with the Prancing Horse team and will race alongside Felipe Massa. "We have worked well," he said. "From day one I found myself at home at the team. "There is like a family feeling from the start. When I went to Maranello I saw the passion of the people that are working at Ferrari. It is something unique in Formula One." Asked if he expects to remain with Ferrari until his retirement, Alonso said: "I'm 100 per cent sure. "For any driver, coming to Ferrari is the best thing you can do in your career."
