Im going to look at an 88 FI QV thats in the shop getting an engine rebuild and a clutch done. The guy is looking to get 110-115K for it when it's done. Seems like the price is a bt high to me. Can anyone weigh in on FI QV prices?

At that price, it better be a perfect documented and serviced low mile car, with Ms. Italia in the next seat.

A friend of mine, just purchased a really nice low KM 1990 Anniversario, for just under six figures.

yeah thats what i thought too.

im gonna go look at tho, cause you never know...maybe she will be there waiting for me. or maybe they'll get more real on the price.

FI DV- people seem to be asking like 100 for them, and getting maybe 80-90.

George Evans has an '88 FI QV for sale. I think he is asking $109K

also has an '87 FI QV for sale. That one is $99K.

    Have you checked with him?

Look for few previous owners, documents of previous services, and an updated clutch. A clean Carfax or Carcheck is no guarantee. With that, make an offer. If the offer with conditions is accepted, you should have the car inspected by a reputable independent specialist shop.

Saving an immediate $15,000 with a "deal," may not prove to be a bargain, a year or two down the road. With that, buy the best mechanical and cosmetic car you can locate.

Keep looking. It is a buyer's market.

they were saying in that ad he got an anni after he got rid of this QV/anni hybrid thing.

maybe thats the one that got wrecked.

  11. I think so. It hit a Viper from what I remember. Andretti has owned several Lamborghinis.

Mario Andretti had two seperate Countachs.

    In 1988, he took delivery on a 1988 1/2 Bianco Perlato/Rosso

In 1990, he took delivery of a 1990 25th Rosso/Naturale, trading in the previous car.

He kept both at his Nazareth PA home.

I drove the latter car some 10 years ago just after he had traded it in on a Diablo SV. It had several thousand miles at the time and was obviously 10 years old at that point. All I can say is that the ex-World Formula One Driving Champion knows how to keep a motorcar, because it was as good as new in all respects in spite of the mileage. You could tell from the driver's seat bolster etc that he was even careful about getting in and out without damaging the upholstery (which is more than can be said for some) because the driver's seat and sill were like new. I was told by the gentleman who did the trade that Mario's garage is set up so that he can change his own oil which he did more often than not.

    Cool DD for sale here-
    http://www.anamera.com/en/detail/car/29223/index.html?no_cache=1&ret=63

It's got an awful lot of miles on it tho. I think they've had it for a while.

I like the black w gold wheels. Coolest color combo for a countach I think. Seems to have a lot of service. Price would be good if miles were lower.

    Anyone know this car? Comments?

I think you will find those are actually kms not miles (an honest mistake often made) so it really has 29,032 miles.

It used to be Steve L's car for a substantial period. If you can work a numbers deal with them, get in touch with me and I will put you in touch with that former owner - he knows a lot about the car, a real enthusiast. I have no affiliation with this seller and dont need any involvement other than to assist your research.

Let us know what the seller says.

Oh, good info. I called and emailed on that car. waiting for response.

On another note, do many people on this forum own FI QV cars? I'm running into a lot of those. If you own one, how do you like it? What do you think is the advantage of a FI QV. Seems to me like these are probably great cars, very fast at 420HP. Of the ones I've found, the condition really seems to be all over the map. I'm going to look at one of these tomorrow. Was wondering what comments FI QV owners have about these cars.

This car is well known. It's Steve Lefferts old car.
Evans rebuilt the engine and I have Never heard of
    an Evans engine rebuild complaint.

Cool, well Im glad its a known car.

People have strong opinions about Evans. I'm still a novice in this, and already a few people have told me Evans is terrible. However on forums like this one people sing his praises.

Actually, to set the record straight. I bought the car from Steve L. Had it over a year, did a lot to it and had a great time with it. I sold it to the current Dealership a while back. I have all the info, including service history from than and what I did to it as well..

I did remove the in-correct wing it had on it when I got it and alot more..

Blast of a car when I had it..let me know if you wish any info that is updated and after Steve L. WHo I sold my 94 SE30 to after he parted with this DD.

Surely you mean 'in addition to that', as my recounting wasn't incorrect.

I should have mentioned in my post that you were the next keeper after Steve L. but as you note you had it a year whereas Steve had it many years.

Steve, yourself and the current owners have all helped this car greatly and I think it should represent a prospect for a current DD QV buyer.

Well it turns out the seller has taken it off the market. Probably was on there a long long time and now the market is softening, so i dont blame him for taking it off.

Seems to me that the DD prices will go down when the 25 year mark hits, and it becomes legal to drive any old DD you want. Supply will go up, and demand prob will remain the same. You guys agree?

There's more carbed cars out there than FI....they're just all in europe.

  23. Evans terrible? Are you kidding? I have been to his shop & seen his work. He knows quite a few tricks to actually improve a Lamborghini.

At present, I see the opposite.

#1. Look at the prices on this website:

    www.mobile.de

#2. Check the dollar/euro exchange rate

Almost nobody in the U.S., is running to buy a car in Europe.

With that, the U.S. dd market is well protected. In fact, some of the original U.S. dd cars may be exported.

I agree. Some years of the DD production are legal to import Right Now
yet nobody has done it.... Why is that? The math doesn't work out,
at least not right now. I also have to disagree about Evans. He has been
IMPROVING countachs for 30years and many owners I have talked to that
have sent their cars there have nothing but good things to say.
