I believe Whisky meant Piquet's name never meant anything in Nascar, Ferraridude stated, 'Daddy's name NO LONGER works in Nascar...'

You are correct, and thank you.

Daddy's name MAY work in nascar - if that last name is Hendrick or France.

Take a look at todays' MLB baseball rosters, but even at that, I agree with you.
    For now.

true, baseball is getting bad....NASCAR has been that way for 30 years, at least.

and yes, I did misinterpret your first post (as Isobel pointed out)

I wouldn't. I know there are sportsmen who are willing to 'take a dive' for money, but I believe them to be in the minority. Piquet's actions were those of a spoilt childish brat who has realised that he doesn't deserve a seat in an F1 car, but will do anything to stay there no matter who it hurts or how his actions effect the sport in general.
If he had an ounce of dignity he would have refused to crash and would have exposed those who asked him to. The fact that he didn't makes me believe that the whole thing was his idea in the first place.

In retrospect, I'm not so sure I would, but we have to realize, F1 is a very different animal in yurrup than it is in the USA. What I view Jr. as doing I view pro sports teams doing when they 'tank' some games just to move higher up in the draft order, like CLV is reported to have done to get LeBron. I'm sure it happens.
What they COULD have done is just tell Jr. to switch off the motor and stop, and call it 'electrical problems'. They could have also found a way to shut the car down via telemetry, could they not?

Maybe, but isnt telemetry monitored or at least accessible to the marshals ?

Depends on how sneaky you are.
(I was thinking the same thing, actually)

They no longer have 2 way telemetry so the pitwall can't make alterations to the car as it is racing. I don't think he could have just parked the car and prompted the Safety Car. He had to crash and cause a mess on the track if the team was to get an advantage.
The thing that get's me riled is not so much the fact that he cheated as I am sure many others have cheated throughout the years. I don't like the fact that he suddenly decided to become 'honest' when he was sacked and he has escaped any punishment.
