He is not the person that did all of the corvettes that made the company famous. But I think he does own the company now

Correct. John started LPE over 30 years ago and Ken bought it a few years after John's death. They are relatives of some kind but the LPE website does not say how they were related.

This avoidance of saying his name is really silly.

His '68 Camaro with C6 Corvette interior and C5 Corvette parts is in the March 2010 Hot Rod Magazine I got in the mail the other day and he doesn't have a silly Sultan of Michigan alias.

The article says he's a distant cousin of John Lingenfelter, but he indeed owns the company now. He obviously proudly has his name displayed for all to know.

The reason for keeping the low profile on his name here is out of respect to him and to Isaac who has been kind enough to bring us inside of his previously private collection.

It's my understanding that the "Sultan" would just as soon keep a low profile. Let's respect that for him so we can continue to enjoy his cars via this forum.

    Thanks guys!

    Your right, JIM.

The SoM title is silly. In hindsight, I wish I could've simply used the title "Michigan Car Collection." At the time, it seemed clever.

However, in the manner in which his car tuning company must operate fairly publicly in order to succeed; crossing those worlds really doesn't make sense; and only consumes valuable time of his. The people interested in the car collection aren't interested in sales / promotions with the tuning company. That may not be 100% the case; but it is clear enough.

That is why the etiquette is to not mention his name in general.

I honestly thought we could have all put this together if we thought hard enough of the likely suspects, but it's all the same in the end.

The man has worked for what he has bought and any of us would do the same... unless we were into expensive shoes.... Needless to say, he is who he is and as I said, It shouldn't matter.

I say, more pics, and let's enjoy!

The thanks to Issac is huge as well!

Sorry to be so late to get to this thread, but thanks to the OP for helping to shred some light and get rid of some of the misconceptions of this amazing collection. I've heard about it for several years and I remember when I first started to hear about some "mystery collection in Michigan" when I came home from Iraq in '05. I felt left out: I left my home state just to find out the nicest collection this side of the Mississippi wasn't far from where I grew up!

Good to have a lot of support in the Midwest for something like this, and I' glad such a humble nice guy is the owner.

Anything new moved in or moved out? SV maybe? V10 R8?

Nothing new out, so not much opportunity I guess.

Nope, went over to the open house yesterday. I didn't see an R8 in there and no SV. There was a Superleggera, but no SV.

He's more focused on growing his new businesses than buying "keepers" right now. There are some new cars; but most of them will be gone in the next 30 days or so.

The light was perfect, but there wasn't enough time to get more than this one shot before heading out for a drive in the morning.

Isaac did you get my email? Just wondering if there is a drive planned following the MWSCC tour on March 27th... or if there will be any other clubs there besides us.

No, not at all. He's bought some cars in the last few months that are bought with the specific intent of selling them. Most of them were ebay cars.

I was just saying what I saw. That's still an amzing collection and for being so close to me makes it even better. I'm just glad I was able to see it once.

Amazing pics Scott, do you have any more pics of the Callaway C8 Camaro? I haven't seen much of it.
