The ad says it's salvage. That said, it would be a nice driver for ~$20k.

Gated, too. Looks a little rough in the pictures. But still, what a great potential DD to thrash about.

Is that a low-ball "I'd buy it if" amount or do you think that is somewhat close to "market"? I'm not ready to buy yet but low $20s I might think about thinking about it. I even like the color. :D

Factoring in needing a major and knowing other things will be found in the process that will add to the money spent getting the car serviceable... I think it's a reasonable offer on a questionably low miles '95 456 with a salvage title/history.

I called about this in early December and had a conversation with the folks over there - The car as I understand it will need a full service as well as the rear shock need to be replaced. I also understand that the leather has some shrinkage on the back deck and front dash - I also believe seats and center console will need some light work. The car is part of an estate sale so they may be willing to deal -

also, I am not so sure how important all of the little details are on a salvage title car. I know I wouldn't spend 4-5k fixing a minor pull or shrinkage on the dash etc, if I bought a 20k salvage title car. I would probably just drive the wheels off of it.

It was salvaged when the car was barely 2 yrs old. It was worth a lot more back then. Must have been a pretty bad hit.

I agree - The front passenger side head light is not lining up - It probably had a hard front impact...

This is a new low from my observations, for a driver that appears not so bad.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the $20K though.

I actually thought about all the logistics of this for a couple of days... making it a daily and not having to care as much about interior issues, etc as if it were pristine... being more willing to thrash it a bit... then I came to these thoughts:

Considering the fact that it was probably a hard front impact, looking at that headlight, and factoring in that it has (apparently) only covered 5k miles since repair, there may be some significant underlying damage that would be a real pain to deal with, even as a track car or a driver to thrash... and maybe I'm just a cynic, but I assume that the worst of the issues with the repairs that were done and the ones that remain would show up about, oh... 5k miles down the road...

    Even at $20k I wouldn't touch it.

But God do I want a Ferrari. With 12 cylinders.

    Soon. Very soon.

I think we're all guessing too much and might miss a deak tghat sets a new precedent (I think).

Anyone serious should contact the seller and find out what really happenned and if this is a cheap thrasher. The money seems cheap and if I had the guts I'd buy it and start my Ferris Buehler California tribute car. But I have more projects and ideas than I have time.

Reall)- 7k on a 456 V12 drivetrain and suspension is worth this money.

    Someone please be a hero.

    My 2 cents.

Ryan- If the drivetrain is in good condition, you can live with the rest. This car for $27k would be a really good deal.

    Their silence is quite loud

Do not even think about buying that car unless you want to part it out. It is a very long story but the short version is the the body shop who tried to fix it from the wreck destroyed the frame.

The car should have been parted out after all the lawsuits died down.

I bought it after a careful survey of the issues surrounding the car.

I keep you all up date with the progress as it occurs . . .

not a leap of faith, just a willingness to 'work with it.'

The goal is a mechanically superior daily driver. The rationalization is that if it were pristine I would not be able to stomach exposing it to the real world.

    Wish me luck!
