I would question the motives behind who ever the people were that said he was terrible as I know firsthand that is far from the case. Sincerely Victor Woloschinow Owner of a 1984 two valve Countach that was fixed by Evan after the engine was FUBAR'd by a previous HACK! That claimed to be an expert Lamborghini technician.
wow, those DD prices are up there in Europe. Sounds like you guys are right they'll stay there. Nice LP400S S2 on there for about 125K. That car looks perfect and has tons of service done. Hey Im not saying Evans is terrible myself. I have no idea, I don't even own one of these cars yet. I just think it's odd that on forums it's unanimous that Evans is the master, but a couple of people in person have told me he does a bad job. The main complaint people have about him is that he doesn't use gaskets, he uses some kind of silicone sealant, and it leaks fluids, then he gets more work from fixing the leaks. He has really pissed a few people off with that. The guy who everyone seems unanimous on across the board is Bobileff. Never heard anything bad about him.
Im going in a pilgrimage in early Feb, to see a bunch of cars and hopefully find THE ONE. I found 5 cars so far. Only 3 are running. C'mon people! Bring it! If you know anyone selling one, send me a PM. I promise I can keep a secret if they don't want it on the open market.
what about the 1987 at forza motorsports... its about as nice as you will ever find! why not buy that one and start enjoying it already!!! http://www.forzamotorsports.com/1987lamborghinicountach/default.htm if I had not already bought an 87 recently I would be buying this one as it is seems to be priced very well and has the books/tools etc and is a one owner... I dont think it gets much better!
How about the Black 88 they have there also, its less money and its black with the gold wheels, Peter has allways been a nice person to deal with , allways polite . I wish I had 90 G`s.
Yeah their cars look good. I contacted Forza about 2 weeks ago and never heard back, so i think all their stuff is probably sold. 88K for that black one is good, someone got a winner it looks like. Bobileff has a white one on his site that looks cool too, but that one was gone when I called also. It's kinda funny, I'd say more than half of the cars I've found on the internet are already off the market when I called about them.
That's because he who hesitates......... If you find a good, reasonably priced car, PPI it and buy it. If you spend a week thinking about it, chances are it'll be gone.
i think because people think this is a good chance to buy them at a fair price, in the end you can still get very nice ones around 90k-100k$ today...it is not going to last forever (imo)
Yes your right , the black one is marked sold, but the red one appears to be available , usally it will say deposit if there is one , Call him back , who knows the answering machine could have got messed up or he could be out of town for a few days ,Its worth a try .
The old "orange silicone" story has reared it's ugly head again. You are wise to shop around before contracting for expensive work (there are a number of us in "the business" that know what we're doing. Just be careful what stories you believe (either positive OR negative). Image Unavailable, Please Login
I sold that car to Europe in November 2009! I really think you need to refine your approach. Whilst I admire your willingness to criss-cross the entire country and follow every Ad, what will help you is a defined plan of action that caters to your particular desires, or needs: * Fuel-injected or Carburetted? * LP400, LP400S, LP500S, QV D, QV FI, Annivesario? Narrow it down, and not only will your life be easier, but you'll save a ton of time and a fair amount of money. Actually, in helping people find Countachs (which Ive really being doing for 20-odd years, even before I was in the 'business' proper) Ive never come across someone who wants a "a Countach". Its always "a Countach QV DD" such as the gentleman who e-mailed me this morning, or an "a Countach Annivesario" such as the father of an F-Chatter who e-mailed me recently etc. Always a particular variant of the Countach in mind, and this helps because then we are always talking about a handful of cars or less. Another thing I would advise: do a ton of homework on BOTH car and seller before you even agree to go to see the car. Research as much as you can! This includes finding out if the car is actually running (or has wheels on it!) before you go see it! Take my advice and if a car is not being shown in good running order, cross it off your list. Its says everything about the seller, and possibly the car! I wouldn't even dream of showing a car for sale that cannot be used immediately. Running around looking at every Countach that's been advertised is the "shotgun approach". I think you need to refine it to the "sniper's approach" Another thought: at this point worry little about the politics of which mechanic has had bad reviews etc. Some of us have been around long enough to fill you in about all that later - AFTER you get the Countach. You need the car first, THEN worry about where to send it. I will close in saying, I think its worth your while deciding on someone who really knows these cars and having them help you. This is cheap insurance, and well worth the expense that you might pay them in fees. A good broker can often negotiate the sales price down enough to cover their cost so then their involvement comes with the deal gratis - a deal you might not have been able to get without their involvement. One reason for involving a specialist who has been around a long time and knows the owners of great cars is the fact that I still believe most of the best cars change hands without EVER coming to the advertised marketplace. Good luck with this!
It's actually red, loctite 518. I have fixed leaks on various cars, that the permatex and other gasket sealers have failed, with that stuff. It's used on heavy equipment also.
PeterK, I tend to agree with you. If it looks good, pull the trigger. Most lambo owners I've talked to have said the opposite- search slow and find the perfect care that you want. In my case, the 2 i found that were in my area, I jumped on them the next day, but it turns out there was problems. The ones outside my area- im flying out to see them. I haven't had one single case yet where a car I was interested in was sold before I could make a move on it.
Guys, Im going into SILENT MODE on this search. But please PM me if anyone you know wants to sell a 400S series 3, 500S, or QV (FI or carb). Thanks for all your help! Great people here!
also, to clarify previous comment- the 500S I saw didn't have problems, the DD did, and it was an extremely minor problem with some spark plugs. The 500s was a near perfect car, getting some routine maintainence (springs) and the owner disclosed this before i went. i was short on time, so i went to see it anyway. I can't say enough about the excellent maintenence of the 500S. The owner had his car looking and sounding truly amazing. I've never heard a motor like that in my life. Damn! What a sick car! Im sure the 500S is probably back to 100% by now with brand new spings (even the old springs looked barely touched.) talk about some pro-active maintenence!
OH thank god! Nah, just kidding. How about Ratedx car. It's running like a bear and, I believe, the paperwork is sirt or in the process of. Real nice car. Perfect for you.
