I see that there are 308 GTB (http://www.r-design.net/308/index_e.html) and 308QV (http://www.308qvregister.com/) registers, but not one for 308 GTS. Would there be any interest out there to have one? Being a new 308 GTS owner, I'm interested in what happened to the 3219 GTS and 1749 GTSi cars.

Does a centralized GTS register exist? If not, I may be interested in putting one together if there is enough interest. I've searched here and there are various posts attempting to gather information, but I've not seen a single source.

You forgot the 308 GT4 registry...

Sure, I'd like to see one... I've never understood why there was such sub-model bias within the 308 community anyway. Would make more since to combine with the GTB guy and share the effort rather than start another... but wouldn't want to step on any toes.

Seems like a great idea. Coordiation with other 308 registries makes sense too.

    good idea Eric,

to clarify the bias from me and the reasoning behind my starting a "sub-model' registry is because that is where my interest are. The first Ferrari I owned was a QV and the one I currently have is a QV and several I have had inbetween have been QV's along with others . Can't speak for anyone else but for me it was the interest in the QV series.

I would be happy to contribute, I often get submissions to my site for non QV cars so I could certainly send what I have

Wade, glad to see a response from you. I also PM'd Robert who runs the GTB registry.

Here's what I'd like to do:

-create a single 308 GTS/GTB registry to cover all the 308 carb/i/QV models (Pininfarina body only so no 308 GT4).
-Set it up in such a way so maintenance is easy (form submission for additions/changes, moderated to control detritus)
-List output is filterable (ie: show only GTS, year, etc)
-List output is easily linkable/displayable from existing websites

By making the list easily linkable/displayable, it would eliminate current registries from needing to maintain their own lists.

    How does that sound?

Well I really am all for a registry for the other sub models. However, forming this super registry, I am sure you would need to get most of your information from the existing registries. That being said, I have been maintaining my registry and gathering information and imputing it manually on my own since 2001 and not sure how the other registry owners would feel but to compile a "mother list" off of the work of others does not seem fair to the current registry owners. JMO. However we would all i'm sure support a registry focused on the current void. I know you can do what you want and there is no way we can stop you from copying our work. I just think you should focus on a registry for the GTS carb models or the 308 injected from 80-82 the rest is already covered. Me personally enjoy maintaining my registry although sometimes it is difficult to keep it updated regularly, I do still enjoy the 9 years of work I have put into it.

I am working on one for the entire 308/328 series. Hopefully it will be part of a book on those models. I currently have over 4800 328 VINS. I am currently working on the 308GTB/Si list and have if I recall about 1200 of them.

If anyone is opposed to me filling in blank spots in mine from their on line registries please let me know. I don't wish for anyone to feel I have stolen their work.

The most complete work currently available is Mathias Urbans Ferrari VIN book available from Ferrari Market letter among other places.

I have no problem with anyone using my online registry to gather information on their car, a car they are buying, one they know about etc. I just don't think it is right to form another registry using the list of an existing registry. I have not used anyone elses information for mine, it is all submitted by owner and enthusiasts. There are already too many people in the world that take credit for work they have not done and have profitted by it. Just seems wrong to me.

a wise man once told me, there is less competition being the one who performs the work opposed to the one who takes credit for the work.

I completely understand. My intention is not to use anyone's work, nor take it over. I was just trying to make things easier both from a registrar maintenance standpoint and from a user standpoint. I don't really want to create an entire GTS themed website as much of it would be duplication of the hard work you and others have already done. Essentially, what I'm proposing is creating a registry infrastructure, and you would maintain control over the QV data therein.

I'm sure that other geeks like me wonder if the car in front or behind in chassis number was a GTS or a GTB. Having separate registries across websites does not really allow for this type of view.

I'll move ahead with building an infrastructure which I will begin to populate with GTS specific information. Once you see what it looks like, you can choose whether or not you'd like to keep QV data (and Robert with GTB data) there.

That sounds interesting, I have always wanted to make my registry more user friendly but do not have the web design skills to do so, what you are proposing would provide some of that. I would like to see what it would look like.

I'm all for the registry. 1978 GTS Carb car #24903 June 1978. Believe the original selling dealer was in Chicago. Question: I can understand if you have done the work on compiling a registry you would want credit for it, but can you make money on one? Randy
